They've been working on my '87 Civic since it was new. Just had to bite the bullet and put a new clutch in it after 180,000 miles.

I fine shop, clean, professional and reliable. They always take the time to explain the problem in as much detail as you like. I took my car there for a starter, told them I needed a starter and they could have put a new starter in and charges me $350. They called and explained it was part X and would only be $200. Then called back 30 minutes later to say they had looked at the wrong column on the price list and it was only $110. They could have taken me for $350 and been good to go. The only problem is that they are so good you have to make an appointment a week ahead to get in. Worth the wait.

Even though I now work about 55 miles south of berkeley I will take a day off from work to have my car serviced there. This shop is cleaner than my house will ever be and the service is phenomenal...whoever says that about their mechanic??!!!

Another plug for Berkeley Minicar. I first went there because the Bay Area Consumer's Checkbook rated them so well for both quality of work and price. As the shop has a great reputation, they usually have a queue. I did my own exhaust manifold, and on another occasion, a wheel bearing replacement, because of this (more time than money then, anyway). A/C Transit Line 65 stops right next to the shop. As of 15 January 1999, this shop works on Hondas only, not even on Acuras.
