Art's shop (and there really is an Art) has done various jobs on my '85 RX7, always on time, on budget and successful. Last week, after having left my car at the airport for a week, I felt like the steering had become a bit 'squirrelly'. I had replaced an idler bushing the year before, so my mind immediately jumped to the possibility of other wear in the front-end. I took the car to Art's with my 'diagnosis' and authorized a $150 bill in advance. When I came back later that day, they told me that the rear tires were very low, that they has test drove it before and after filling the tires and to come back if I still didn't like the steering. The bill: just under $20, which I considered more than reasonable for their time and my dumbness. Some other garage might have put the car on a lift without doing a test drive, or might have reworked the front end based on my misguided 'diagnosis'. I would have never known and would have thought that they were doing me a favor. This garage consistently wins "best garage" in the local newspaper polls.

I love Art's! They are friendly, helpful, informative, competent, and don't give off any attitude that because I'm a woman I'm less able to understand what's wrong with my car. I have personally witnessed them refusing to do work they thought was unneccessary. They could have made an easy $30 changing the oil on another customer's car, but instead said "No, you only have 2000 miles on this change, and you can go 4500 miles with no problem. Bring it in after you get back from your road trip. Until then, it's fine." They also didn't smirk (the way another mechanic did) when I described my car's symptoms in a very non-technical way, ("It feels like I'm running over evenly-spaced patches of adhesive on the road.") and used the proper terminology while discussing it. Now, if it ever happens again I know to say "It's surging!"

I've gone to Art's since 1989. I've been there when the mechanics have helped folks with limited budgets prioritize the work that they need to have done. They always discuss the work you need in understandable terms. They assume that women will undertsand what they are talking about. I will only buy a car that I know Art's can work on.

Took my corolla wagon to a cheapie oil change place. They told me "oh by the way, your cv boots or calipers (I don't remember which one now) are about to go. You want me to take care of them?" I thought, this is a perfect chance for a second opinion. Having brought my last toyota to Art 6 years ago, I felt it was a good time to say hello. They checked the brakes and suspension and boots and everything else and said "everything looks fine, oh by the way you know that whistling sound that comes from your front right wheel, its a result of the hubcap acting like a whistle in the wind, just take it off and the sound will vanish." Everything was taken care of, they didn't charge me for the inspections and I learned yet another valuable lesson regarding cheap oil change shops...they suck-at least your money. I love Arts Automotive

We brought a used Toyota Camry from "THE CAR PLACE" next to REI. Big mistake! The second mistake was not taking it to Art's for a pre-inspection. We had someone else inspect the car. We of course had problems with Toyota and found Art's through this website. All positive comments are true! They even have excellent coffee with real cream and sugar. Art's performed the following: 1. replaced all tires 2. replaced a/c compression and put new coolant 3. performed major tuneup 4. did oil changes, etc. Too bad Art's is the exception!

Art's is great!! Paul and Lute and Art are all very fair and very helpful. If it ain't broke, they won't fix it. If it is, they'll do a great job.

The people at Art's are always honest and forthcoming. They never condescend to me. I don't feel like I have to go there with a guy in order for them not to rip me off. They explain very clearly what's wrong with your car, and even show you sometimes when necessary. I've done price comparisons with other shops for both repair work and for tires. They have consistently been the cheapest, and the tires they offer are very high quality. They also repair your car in one day, generally. They always call to touch base with you on additional repairs or if they need to look at the car before estimating the cost. Oh, and almost everytime I've gotten repair work done there, their estimate has been higher than the actual cost.
