I began as an unbiased customer but I've become a biased one. I am a female who moved to Tucson/Oro Valley in 2002. In my previous home, Omaha, NE, I had single proprietor garage I trusted completely. After moving here, I used a few garages and it took me 4 years to find this one (it wasn't even open when I moved here). Although it is a chain store, I finally feel like I've found a garage which matches my prior experience. One thing I like is how the staff members interact with each other; there seems to be a great deal of mutual respect amongst all of them. However, what I like best is their honesty! I am given accurate, useful recommendations; never over-sold on services or materials. Work is checked and rechecked. If I get my car home and something isn't quite right, they immediately take a look and work until everything is working as well as can be expected on my 1993 Honda. If they don't find anything to do, they don't charge me for looking. I recently had them check out why my "check engine" light was coming on. They found "codes" in the computer that seemed related to the distributor but, after checking it out various times over the course of a couple of days, they weren't able to make it stall or not work. So, rather than do an expensive repair job "just-in-case" there was a serious problem, they advised me to drive it and contact them immediately if anything started acting up again. I would have been a sitting duck for them to take me to the cleaners but they didn't even show any consideration of doing that. Ladies, here is a garage you can trust; I can't say enough good about them. Talk to John or Shawn; you won't be disappointed.

How do I begin to express my fury and rage at the Oro Valley, AZ Brake Masters? I guess I should start from the beginning. Just a few weeks ago we brought our Buick in for repairs. One of these repairs was the air conditioning, which hadn't been working regularly. They told us we needed a new blower motor, put one in, and the total charge for that day was close to $3,000. On July 30, 2015 as we planned a family trip to Scottsdale, I brough the same Buick to the same Brake Masters in Oro Valley to have what they call a trip check. They did that, presumably checked everything, and charged us just over $200. On the night of July 31, after having dinner in Scottsdale, we found the air conditioner - presumably with the new blower motor Brake Masters sold us a few short weeks before - was not working. We had to drive the 15 miles to the hotel with the windows down. Then, in the morning, when the AC still was not working, we had to cut out family trip short so that we could drive back to Oro Valley before it got too hot (on the highway with the windows down). Did I mention we were traveling with two children, 6 and 2? Thus, on August 3, I brought the same Buick back into the Brake Masters in Oro Valley. Oh, they were all apologetic that our trip was ruined. Sure, they were. They examined the AC and said it wasn't a blower motor we had needed after all. Oh, mistakes, they do happen. It was something else our car needed. I don't even know what right now because I'm still furious. I sincerely expected to be charged a minimum, if anything, since they didn't get it right the first time, and this completely ruined our family trip. But no. We were again charged over $200. Today is August 10. One week after Brake Masters in Oro Valley supposedly fixed the air conditioning problem in our Buick for good. Or, at least for more than a week. Well, guess what? This morning, the AC in our Buick is again not working. I am steaming. It has been a long, long time since I've been this angry at an establishment. I am tired of pouring money into the wallets of the crooks at this location.

This shop underwent a change in management which likely explains the difference between the previous 2 reviews. John has since moved on as manager and I believe the shop has not maintained his high level of customer service and honesty. John now works for a shop at Tangerine and Thornydale, a little further away from OV but worth the drive in my opinion. My last visit to Brakemasters was OK but I came away feeling that I was "upsold" on services I didn't need (in my humble opinion).
