After several unbelievablely bad experiences with subaru dealer maintenance/repairs, i took a $2,000 plus list of "required repairs" from a subaru dealer to the Warren Auto Barn after calling the Barn and being told that the list would not cost more than $1200. (I called the Barn after noting its subaru focus while tooling around Maine for several years.) The actual bill was less than $700 because the owner/manager (Joel Gay) found that several of the "required repairs" were not necessary. I continued to use the Barn for routine maintenance and repairs when my visits to Maine permitted. I also used the Barn when, in the midst of a Boston rainy season, the driver side wiper stopped working. The nearest subaru dealer (the same as noted above) estimated the repair cost to be $400 plus. With a Maine trip pending, I drove (during a dry period) to Maine where the Barn mechanic told me (after a minute's inspection) that the problem was that the screw holding the wiper had fallen off. I attribute the Joel Gay's work and honesty made it possible for my 1985 subaru station wagon life to be extended from 90,000 to 215,000 miles. I also wanted to note that others being served seemed to have similar experiences: current letters of appreciate taped to the reception window in the conversational exchange on mileage, it was not uncommon for someone to claim 250,000 miles Joel's explanations to other customers demonstrated his awareness of the difference between technical superiority and consumer understanding

When I moved to the area I asked several Subaru owners if they would recommend a service garage. They all had great things to say about Joel and "the barn". I've found the praise to be well deserved. Friendly, competent and honest...how can you go wrong. I hope to keep my Subaru for another ten years and with these guys in my corner I bet I will.

they always offer a least expensive alternative even if it means they are not going to get the work. I drive for an hour and a half to get my car to them. It is worth it.

They offer least-expensive options. That's a good sign of honesty. They know Subarus well.

Strongly recommend this repair shop-honest, competent. A big plus - when you make an appointment they take you at the scheduled time and can usually give an accurate estimate of how long a job will take.
