We moved to Maine 2 years ago and needed a good , reliable
garage for our 2 Toyotas. Its too far to the nearest
dealer. A friend recommended Black Bear and are we glad
she did. We have complete faith in Black Bear. They
always use genuine Toyota parts and fully explain what
they did and why. Their prices are reasonable.
We also noticed that the local police force has their
vehicles serviced there. There is ,probably, no better
testamonial than that of the police.

Been bringing our cars/trucks to them for 16 years. Often
they have given us rides home after we drop one off and
picked us up at home when the car was ready. Have not
charged us when they run into a problem that they can't
fix after spending several hours on it (a rare occurence
however, they can fix 99% of whatever you give them).
Always satisfied with their work. I'd recommend them to
anyone.

I stopped taking my car to the dealer after several repeats
of them not doing all that had been requested and that they
even advertised as part of the service. Black Bear is
nearby. As it turns out, they've been great! Even came with
an air compressor to fill a flat so I could drive it in for
repair and only charged me $8! They always explain what
they've done or needs to be done. Prices are lower than the
dealer, and I've always been happy with their work! My
current car is 6 years old and with their care I expect to
drive it for several more years. Everyone who needs their
car should have such good mechanics.

My 18 y.o. son found his dream ‘dream car’ on Craigslist, a 2003 Honda Accord with 240,000 miles. Unfortunately the seller lived 2.5 hours south of us making it impossible to use our mechanic to check out the car. So I used Car Talk’s Mechanics files to connect with Black Bear Automotive in Springvale, Me. I explained the situation and he took us right in the next morning. He put the car on the lift and spent 20-25 minutes inspecting all of the ‘trouble spots’ on the car. He brought us into the bay to personally view some of his findings and shared his experience/philosophy of what to look for in a used car (he was really impressed with the condition of this high-miles car). When he was finished, he refused to take any payment for the service! “This is a free service I provide to my customers”, he said. “But we live 2.5 hours away and we will likely never come here again” I says... He just smiled and would not take anything. Even if we had to pay for the service, I would give Black Bear 5 stars: friendly, a good educator and knowledgeable. I sent him a Qt. of maple syrup for a thank you!
