Have a Subaru? Go to Chip's. Chip will also give you advice on when to use the dealer (rarely, but there are warranty repair times). I will always have a Subaru so I can go to Chip's. Thank you, Chip.

Chip is perhaps the most ethical business person I've yet encoutered (definately the best Suburu guy in Maine!) I will drive from Boston just to have him work on my car (when its safe to do so!) He employeees a great crew and I wish there were more shops like his!

Chip is great! He tells you what you really need to get
fixed, and what can wait. He fixed the trunk latch on my
Impreza, and when it broke again a year later he fixed it
for free. The only problem is that he is so popular that
sometimes it can be hard to get an appointment

A friend recommend Chip's to me sevearl years ago and I've
been thankful. For both scheduled check-ups and emergency
visits, Chip has been clear, informative, and helpful. They
are very upfront about the cost, what needs to be done,
potential auto problems that I might encounter in the
future. It is a great operation!

We have owned Subarus since the 70's. We are now up to
Subaru 10 and 11. Chip is a factory trained, Subaru
specialist (sorry other vehicles). He works on many
Subarus, keeps up with Subaru standards and changes, stays
abreast of recalls and recommends when to prepare for
maintenance needs. Not only is he a gifted mechanic be he
has good knowledge of Subaru warranty language. If it
needs to be handled by a dealer because the repair falls
under the warranty, he sends you there. Our '03 and '04
fell into a category of bad seals and oil leakage. With
his guidance, Subaru covered both engine rebuilds and
extended the warranty to 100,000 miles. Compare his prices
to a dealer's and you'll be shocked at how reasonable he
is. Yes, you must plan ahead for regular maintenance but
should you have an emergency, he'll make time. A phone call
is made to you once the vehicle is diagnosed then you
decide whether to have him do the work or not. He gives the
cost at this time so there are no surprises.
Always prompt, vehicle is in excellent condition upon
completion. Chip and his staff are dependable and honest.

My only regret about Chip's is that they work on Scoobarus
only. I wish I could take our Scion to them too. I echo
other reviewers' comments: this shop offers consistently
great value for money and competency. I have no reason to
doubt their honesty and they're certainly very, very
knowledgeable about Subarus.
