I told Sy that my Saab needed a new alternator because the bearings were screeching and told him to go ahead and replace it, a $300+ job. When I picked the car up he told me that a bracket support bolt had backed out and was rubbing against the alternator pulley which caused the racket. He screwed the thing back in and charged me nothing. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is HONESTY. He is also VERY knowledgeable about Saabs--drives a 95 2-stroke--and is a great seat-of-the-pants wrencher. His son works with him, and they sell OEM parts at substantial discount, and the back yard is full of old, neat, cars. Don't get much better than that!

I travel from OOB to have my car worked on at Back Bay
Auto. Cy, Paul, and the rest of the crew are just plain
fantastic! Although I know nothing about cars, they
always take the time to explain the problem to me so I can
understand. They are very highly recommended by me to
everyone I know.

Sy is a gem...and it is a family operation. Son at the front
desk, son as another mechanic, brother drives you home and
wife does the books! I love that. I wish it were in my 'hood
but I will travel to get to him. They are pleasant and
always have the daily paper and often donuts to boot.
