excellent auto shop

I have been a poverty stricken grad student (for the last 6 years!) and these guys have been great about keeping my aging (1985, 178,000 miles) car starting and stoppping when I want it too. I know almost nothing about cars, and I'm a rotten bluffer so it's really obvious that I know nothing and I'm very much at the mercy of car mechanics. Fortunately I do read vibes pretty well. The mechanic I had when I first moved here was either really incompetent or really thought he'd do me. He said the steering rack and head gasket were shot and I thought I'd just get a second opinion, which is how I ended up with John. He's been great and never taken advantage of my ignorance. And He's kept the car going on almost nothing. They're making me graduate and look for a job in May, which probably means moving somewhere else since there are no jobs up here to speak of. I just wanted to give him a plug for getting me and my car through grad school.

Both John and his humble minnion, Greg, are very competent, and they often confer. John has an extensive stock of Volvo parts on hand, and he is agreeable to scavanging off any vehicles he has on hand.
