I drive over an hour to get my Toyota serviced at Down East Toyota. I have had two 4Runners and have had them both serviced there. They treat me with great respect (that female vs. mechanic thing) and, despite the cost of getting a car serviced at a dealership, I feel it is worth it since they stand behind all the work they do. They have goofed a couple of times and really gone out of their way to make it right. In the ten years I have been going there, I have seen little turnover in employees which to me says alot. I highly recomend them to anyone.

We own 1 1991 Toyota Camry (140,000 mi)and 3 4Runners (1996,97,2000- mileages from 22000 to 90,000). Toyotas are LARGELY trouble-free, but not entirely....the Camry developed an intermittent transmission noise which they properly diagnosed on the first try (!) was a rusted and sheared bolt holding the torque converter in place....they have also readily accommodated my tough scheduling demands, such as working my son's 4Runner in for a diagnostic & repair visit for coolant loss, while he was home for a brief college vacation.....they are not inexpensive, but they do accommodate and they do get it right!!!

My particular gripe with Downeast Toyota is that, after trying 3 times, they were unable to align the front end on my 2003 Tacoma. After the third time I went to another shop that did it right the first time. To their defense, they were always willing to correct the problem and they didn't charge me for the two times they did try to correct the alignment. When I asked to get reimbursed for their unsuccessful alignment they were more than willing to help. However, when I received a check it was for the cost of the other shops alignment ($49.95), not the cost of their alignment ($59.95). I bet if the other shop charged me $69.95 they would'nt have made the same mistake. I chock it up to the fact that "you just can't get good help these days". What are your thoughts? Rich

I have purchased several cars from this dealership and always take the cars to them for service. I know nothing about cars and must rely on them to provide the service I need. My 1994 Corolla is still running strong and I expect to my new Matrix to last as long due to the great service I get from Downeast. I would recommend them to anyone.

Decent to deal with. Seem to bill way more than reasonable. This is why I avoid the dealer, except when imperative!
