They once could have told me I needed a $250 starter motor, and I wouldn't have known any different, but instead informed me that all I needed was a new battery strap ($15). Thse are people you can trust to give you the straight skinny. They aren't the cheapest in town, but the quality of their work and the way they treat their customers makes it worth it.

Rick has been a friend and our family's trusted "mechanic"
since I moved to Maryland in 1979. Upon graduation from
college that year, a friend there gave me the sage parting
advice to make friends with a mechanic when we got to
Maryland. As it happens, one of the first people I met at
church was Rick who became my friend before I learned he was
an automotive technician. Honesty and trustworthiness are
bedrock principles in his life, as it is also with his
business partner Tim. Together they run R/T Automotive from
the bays of the Tacoma Park Texaco station on New Hampshire
Avenue near the Eastern Avenue boundary of the District of
Columbia. Assisted by Fred and Karen, this team works hard
and serves their customers well. Integrity and competence
are noteworthy in any profession. This team demonstrates
those traits daily.

I took my Eclipse to TP Texaco based on web comments, and I am very pleased with the service and suggestions that they gave. Tim told me I didn't need a tune up until 60K miles; another mechanic might have taken my money. I'm very pleased with my service. These guys work their butts off and do a great job.

I took my 1999 Corolla in based on reviews here and I'm
thrilled with both the diagnosis and price. Rick took my
call and gave me a preliminary price over the phone for the
work I described. He allowed me to drop the car off and
promised to do all that he could to examine it and if
possible return it the same day. He examined the car based
on my comments, found I was wrong, offered suggestions to
correct the actual problem and completed the work two hours
earlier than he guesstimated - AND for almost $200 less than
I expected to pay (based on prior service bills).
I would highly recommend this shop!
BTW, I didn't score the shop with "5" across the board
because this was my first visit. If future visits are as
successful, I'll gladly upgrade my scores to 5s.
