Bob has an active sense of humor (except when it comes to car repair) so don't get him started.

How I wish I didn't live about 50 miles away from Bob! He is the best mechanic ever. Suffice it to say, every person I've referred to Bob Brittain want him as their mechanic. I've referred maybe 10-15 people to him over the years, and we all regard him as the gold standard for car repair. He is very personable, and extremely high standards for himself and his other mechanics. Bob is a very nice man, and an excellent mechanic. His shop is a little difficult to locate. Consequently he tends to perform the more difficult and involved diagnoses and repairs. If you go to him, you probably will not want to go to another mechanic. I live over 50 miles away from him now, and I am thinking of using him as my regular mechanic again. Above all, I trust this man.

Bob doesn't advertise so al his business is word-of-mouth (you kinda got to ignore his puns.)

Bob and his crew are the best!!! I once broke down in New Jersey and took the car to a 24 hour car service place there. They seemed very incompetent and wanted to hold my car hostage for days before they even worked on it. They changed my thermostat, which wasn't the problem. I told them to leave the car alone and we towed it back to Bob. The problem was the radiator. They had quoted $500. to fix it. Bob fixed it in a day for $284. and said he turned the thermostat around, (they had put it in backwards). Bob always explains the problem well and gives you estimates on fixing it. His communication skills and repair skills are excellent. He's also an english major, so make sure your notes a gramatically correct!

I agree with all the previous reviewers' comments. Bob Brittain is a one-of-a- kind mechanic. He's bright, well-spoken, and one of the fastest punsters I've ever encountered. He's also a concert pianist who plays with at least one local symphony orchestra. Of course, none of this has anything to do how he deals with your tune-up or auto emergency. He and his staff know their stuff and always patiently explain the problems with your car and what must be done to fix it. And they make sure you understand what they're telling you. One reviewer mentioned "trust". These people can be trusted and truly deserve the high praise they've received here.

Bob knows cars and is concerned about keeping your car running well. He is a mechanic I trust and his prices are reasonable.

We have been taking our cars to Bob since 1982! 27 years! The first time I had a Pontiac Grand Prix that the dealer told me "needs a new engine for $1800! Bob did about $1500 in work, all "around" the engine. The car ran for many years thereafter. Bob is not only a great mechanic, but an honest one. He is also an excellent pianist! Thanks Bob, for taking care of us all these years.

I started a new job in 1981. Several months after, my Pontiac Grand Prix was diagnosed by a Pontiac Dealer as needing a target engine for $1800...a lot of money in 1981! A few of my co workers ( I was there for another 20 years) recommended Bob Brittain. Long story short, I didn't need a target engine, but I did need a lot of work around the engine. $1200 later, I drove that car for another 10 years! I have been with Bob since then, five cars later, and have never had reason to question his integrity. If he says it needs doing...I say "do it"! Sometimes it doesn't work, and he removes the "part", and credits me. In effect, I endorse Bob Brittain wholeheartedly and unequivocally!

Bob Brittain runs a very small, very competent shop. They actually repair things instead of replacing systems (like replacing a seal in the power steering pump instead of the whole pump). They will do any make and model, and any kind of work competently - from emissions work and rebuilds, through electric mirror motors, recoding key fobs, and finding body leaks - to oil changes and "what's that noise mean?". I keep my cars a long time and I've had them diagnose and replace at least 50% of the suspension parts on two high milage cars: in a 200,000 mile 4-wheel steering Honda Prelude - not an easy job; and in a 160,000 mile Chevy Malibu - because they only replaced what was needed, it was half the dealer price and perfectly done). They always stand behind their work (it doesn't happen often but you just take it back and they make it right). They are very quick at even complicated jobs - I almost never have to leave the car overnight unless it is hard to get the right parts - and even then it is only one night.) I originally was referred to Brittain's by a friend with Toyotaa, Lexus', and Lincolns. They work on my Honda and two Chevys. With too many shops, taking a car in and saying "give it a going over and fix whatever you find that needs fixing," is a dangerous invitation to pay for a lot of unnecessary things; do that at Brittain's and you get a better, safer car back for a reasonable price. I have seen a huge variety of vehicles in the shop. He is an excellent diagnostician and nearly as funny and gregarious as Click and Clack themselfes. What a find!
