When my regular mechanic was unavailable, based on the Mechan-X reviews I called and spoke with Kenny about a problem that needed fixing immediately (turned out to be alternator). They fixed it the next day. I then brought in my 1993 Isuzu Trooper that was stalling, running poorly, using excess gas, etc. etc. I advised them that I had the coolant termperature sensor replaced twice before. Kenny and Wilbur kept the truck for about three days and notified me that they had fixed the problem for what I considered was a reasonable price, but stated they would be willing to negotiate what I considered a fair price since they had not given me an estimate. They discovered corrosion in a wiring harness that was sending faulty messages to the computer making it think the engine was always cold, and they discovered a faulty fuel regulator. Bottom line, the Trooper now runs great (knock wood) and I am extremely impressed with the work that they did and the price they charged.

Excellent shop. Price has always been below estimate.

Found these guys on this board, and decided to chance the
trip. The place is pretty hard to find, but worth it. Shop
owner was courteous, competent, and honest. It turned out my
car's problem wasn't a "problem" so much as it was an issue
with the Mercedes-Benz passive security system feature of my
key -- These guys told me that, let me know the next course
of action and didn't even charge me for the time they spent.
Would DEFINITELY recommend!
(The shop dog also comes with high recommendations -- very
cute, great mascot.)

Very friendly staff. Always explain the repairs and will
try to help find the cheapest solution to get you back on
the road if you are unable to afford the full repair at the
time.

My girlfriend and I moved into the area about six months ago
with our beloved, if slightly decrepit, vehicles. "Speak
for yourself" she says, but Wilbur and the gang have done
more great work on her Mazda than on my Geo. They always
return your calls and are as honest and straight forward
with her as they are with me. You can expect that you will
get a full explanation of the best, worst and most likely
scenarios and the expected costs involved in each case. The
work is done right the first time and in a very reasonable
period of time. I have yet to wait more than a day or two
for anything. You can also expect to have your phone calls
returned the next day at the latest and, if you're lucky,
meet the sweetest fat Doberman you ever saw. It might be a
little hard to find the shop if you're new to the area, but
you will be glad you did.

I was looking for a shop near my office and near the dealer
where I was contemplating the purchase of a used car for my
daughter. I looked here in the X-files and when I saw all
the comments about Wilbur and Kenny, I knew I had found the
right place. I dropped off the prospective vehicle at
Emerald City and within 2 hours Kenny called me with a
recommendation not to buy the vehicle because it had been
in so many accidents, and the body work wasn't the best.
The signs were subtle, but they found them. Their normal
charge for a pre-purchase inspection is $75 or so, but they
didn't charge me a nickel! I couldn't believe it! I had
to insist Kenny keep the $20 I handed him, and he humbly
thanked ME. And these guys are great to talk to, and I
wish them the best. They'll have all my future business.

Was comtemplating the purchase of a Taurus wagon for my new
teen driver. Brought it to Wilbur and Kenny for a pre-
purchase inspection after seeing the good comments here.
They called me two hours later with the recommendation to
stay away from this car because it had evidence of body
damage all they way around it. They showed me all the
subtle signs of paint and body work that had been done.
And then they didn't charge me! I had to insist they take
$20. I'd bet these guys are good mechanics, but my
experience at E.C. showed me these guys are good people,
too. God bless 'em.

Wilbur and Kenny were great! A friend recommended their
shop to me and I was very pleased. They got to my car
(2002 Mazda) quickly and had it done the same day.
Unfortunately I'm moving out of state sooon but I hope
whoever reads this is happy with their shop as I was!
Kenny even reccommended some things to take care of before
I move since I'll be driving about 2,000 miles. Very happy
customer.

This garage is GREAT. I took my truck to Butler automotive
for a MD inspection (BAD garage) and they wanted me to do
repairs in the range of $500. So then I took it to Emerald
City, based on the reviews on this site, and while they
don't do the inspection (they take it to another place who
knows they will not get any work if they fail it), they
found that it passed and fixed a tail light for me for a
buck. Yes, the MD inspections are subjective. But this was a
bit much. The Emerald City guys were helpful, friendly,
honest, easy to work with, and very pleasant. They made me
very happy and will have my business as long as I am here.
