Day 1:
2:50 pm - arrive at shop with punctured tire. The line out
the door falsely indicates some competence. Order 4 new tires.
PROMISE - done in 2 or 2 1/2 hours
3:10 pm - Settle in to dark gray waiting room with my 3
children and a DVD player.
5:45 pm - battery in the DVD player gives out.
6:00 pm - There is no changing table in the rest room.
6:45 pm - the Manager personally apologizes for the time I
was there... well beyond the promise. He gives me a couple
coupons for free oil changes. I pay $536.77
6:47 pm - the spare tire is inside my 2002 Toyota Sienna
rather than mounted below. Ask for somebody to mount it
properly. (Yes, I was polite.)
6:55 pm - shop guy comes out to mount tire. He can't find
the bolt that lowers the spare tire bracket.
7:00 pm - starving children seated in their car seats and
stroller is wedged in next to the spare tire.
7:03 pm - 300 yards from the shop, my TPMS low tire light
comes on my dash. Fuming, I go home.
Day 2:
10:10 am - I take my oil change coupon and explain that the
spare tire should be mounted and the tires should have
sufficient air in them.
"How long will this take? I need to leave by noon."
"Oh yes Ma'am, I guarantee it'll be done before that. I'll
put you in the front of the line."
10:15 am - DVD player going in the dark gray waiting lounge.
11:45 am - my van still hasn't gone into the shop. They
haven't started.
I retrieve my keys and leave.
If this is what the front of the line looks like, RUN AWAY.
No wonder they gave me free oil change coupons... it was
just paper. They know they'll never have to give me an oil
change if I have any time constraints at all.
