Surprised to find there are still competent and honest mechanics! Great experience at Foreign and Domestic auto. Fixed manifold problem for much less than dealer. Wanted car inspected, since just moved to Mass. Had to replace cracked windshield for inspection,, and they found a great glazier that was reasonable.Went to lengths to have my car done well within same day.Jerry and Koko are rare finds!!

What I like about Koko is that he doesn't do unnecessary work. He could easily pull the wool over my eyes as I'm clueless about cars, but he never does. He returns phone calls and doesn't keep you waiting when you go there.

I wouldn't have expected to need a full-on clutch rebuild (but not too surprised, considering my driving), and Koko wouldn't have done it if I hadn't trusted what he told me. The difference between before and after proved to me that he was right. Also, I expected I'd have to bring it back "next week" to get the work done, but I had my car back just over 24 hours from when I dropped it off. If and when I need something else fixed, I'll be back.

I had a bizarre electrical problem that they misdiagnosed the first time around (because it presented as a coolant problem). The next day, Koko spent hours tracing wires until he found the real problem, and totally undercharged me for the time. I'm sure a lot of places would have just dropped in expensive electrical parts instead of diligently pursuing the real problem. It's not on the T but it's on several bus lines. It's almost on top of Tufts.

About a year ago I got my catalytic converter replaced here. My then 12 year old Toyota Corolla's original converter had worn out. Then 3 months ago my check engine light came on. I took my car to another mechanic that was closer to my house. At first the other mechanic thought it was the oxygen sensor, but it turned out to be the whole converter. He urged me to call Foreign & Domestic since a catalytic converter should last longer than year. When I called they replaced my cat at no cost to me. Foreign & Domestic said I had ended up with a bad cat. This is a wonderful shop that admits it unknowingly gave you bad part and replaces it no cost to you, and also gives you a ride to their shop from the car rental place.
