The is an old family business. Steve, Tommy's son, runs
things in the shop most of the time. I learned about this
business from a friend who had a beater van he needed to
keep running, and found out that Spinney had welded some
parts in the suspension to keep this van on the road. Cost
almost nothing, and Blake was delighted.
I've taken my vehicles there for about 12 or 13 years now.
They will save you money by telling you when something is
fine and doesn't need to be changed, and also check on
things to be sure you don't neglect something. They did the
head gasket on the minivan, they've done brakes, exhausts,
tune ups, fixed flats, etc. They sent out my transmission,
but they do have the tranny fluid replacement machine.
They've worked on my Dodge and Plymouth minivans, My Chevy
truck, my Honda Civic.
They usually can get my car in for an oil change same day I
call. Heavier work I call ahead.
He is the only mechanic I've ever dealt with, with whom my
wife could talk. No stupid talking down to her, he tells
her straight and explains anything she (or I) don't
understand. I've had guys want to talk only to me, or dumb
stuff down, but never from Steve.
They could have more open hours, but it is a small shop, and
Steve needs to have a life.
