Dave is the manager and head guy. He is the only mechanic
I've met who will tell you if work doesn't need to be done
and/or will find the least expensive way to repair the
vehicle. (I guess he doesn't have a boat) Also, if he
doesn't think his shop can do a job, he will let you know up
front. They hate Mercedes' and won't let one in their shop.
Other than that, they're pretty versatile.

This is long overdue but I feel so strongly I remembered to write two years after my experience with Cannings. My family was on vacation in Cape Cod. My son ignorantly let the transmission drain all the fluid while the transmission protested. He just said "its only six mile to our campground". Well the puddle of fluid told most of the story. We found Canninge on Sunday evening. Monday they arranged to have it towed to their shop. It was thier busy season and we came in unexpected into their schedule. They were swamped with work and could not even look at it until Wednesday. Tuesday noon they called us with the bad news. The transmission was toast. We all agreed the car was not worth the repair cost. Cannings arranged to have it carted away to the auto recycler. The bottom line is: we had no appointment. He arranged towing at a very reasonable price. He squeezed us into his schedule. He did heroically try to salvage our car. It was not worth repairing. He arranged towing to auto recycler. His charges were surprising light. If I recall correctly all up it was $150.00 with towing. We were understanding of his schedule, said "no rush". He diagnosed faster than promised and charged a fair price. I wish we were not five hours away from him. Honest!!!
