Peter is a very nice guy, one of very few old fashioned mechanics that are still around.

I work in Cambridge but live in NJ on weekends. Drive my BMW 525 back and forth.Had leaking transmission,my transmission guy in NJ, car in MA. Found Peter on this site. Diagnosis leaking cover replaced for $150, promptly done, called when car was ready. Very pleasant experience.

Wow! Pete is a dream come true. I brought my Honda in to be checked all over. I had another mechanic tell me I needed $1,000 worth of work done. Pete checked everything, said that it's all fine. He didn't even charge me. Usually I get charged at least 1/2 hour of labor when I have my car looked at. A mechanic who says I need "nothing done", this is a first in my 20 years of vehicle ownership!

I've gone to a handful of mechanics in the area, APA/Peter have treated me the best so far. I like them particularly because they are quick and they do a good job the first time.

Peter, the owner, has done work on my and when he cannot find anything wrong, he doesn't charge me!! He let me know when it was finally time to say goodbye to my 1984 Chevy Caprice wagon. He always sees me the day I call or the next day at the latest and the work is always done before closing, unless the part needed hasn't been located. They have charged me way below estimates from other garages; for example, when I needed brakes, Century Tire in Somerville was going to charge me almost double what APA did. They don't discuss maintenance stuff, waiting for me to bring it to their attention, however.

Like the others, I think Pete runs a great shop. The second time I used them for a repair, I knew why a friend had recommended them so strongly. I was having intermittent problems starting my car, and they checked the battery, altenator, etc, all the obvious culprits and found nothing wrong. Pete suggested replacing the "main relay," a part that controls all the electrical signals. He couldn't guarantee it would fix the problem but said that based on his experience with Hondas and Acuras he thought this was likely the problem. I had him replace it and never had a problem again. I think when a mechanic can diagnose a problem based on experience he/she is worth keeping!
