He is a "Great Mechanic"
Sep 22, 1998
On a number of occasions, I have brought unusual problems to Lou, and he has always been able to make the "diagnosis". I consider the charges to repair my vehicle fair and in line with "the competition". Lou and his partner, Steve Grey, have always stood behind their work. I consider them both to be as honest as my former mechanic whom I dealt with for 25 years but has since gone out of business. I trust them to correct the problem. No more, no less. They have been more than willing to add me to the list of daily repairs even though I didn't have an appointment that particular day to help me in an emergency. Lou is much like the old time mechanic who was able to listen to how the engine is running and to listen to your description of the problem, and then make a quick decision (most often correct) so as to repair the car and get you back on the road.

Lou and Steve are gentlemen! They do excellent work and are always willing to help when we have an emergency problem with the cars. One morning when I came in telling Lou that I had a strange sound that I was concerned about, he wiped off his hands and jumped into the passenger seat to hear the sound while I was driving! Which he did hear and ultimately solve. My husband and I are now retired from teaching in the town where the station is and we still go out of our way to bring our cars back to them.

I have listened to you guys for a long time now and I have
seen some of the beaters you have driven over the years.
Lou Patti & Steve Grey are two honest individuals who take
the time to care to get it right the first time. I have
brought cars to them ranging from absolute cream puffs to
disastrous nightmares. The latter of the two has brought
me much needed ridicule from them to steer me straight the
next time shopping for a vehicle. One particular instance
was when I had an 1985 ford thunderbird and brought it in
coplaining of a faint squeaky noise comming from the dash
board behind the air ducts. Lou quickly diagnosed the
problem and gave me the answer to correct it. He said
the "...problem is your radio, it is not up loud enough."
He could have fixed the problem by removing the dash board
and replacing a fan (or something like that) and charging
me like $500.00, but he knew that the problem was
acoustical, and the noise was nothing major at all. To sum
up the story he saved a young kid a lot of money and
reassured me that the problem was absolutely nothing to
worry about as long as I had some good driving tunes.
There was that time he let me do something in a 1965,black,
convertible Dodge Dart and a Red MG, but I won't bore you
death with details....
Thank you for just being yourselves!
Sincerely,
Ian MacLellan

I took my aging Subaru in for some other work and as I was
settling up the bill I asked if they happened to notice
anything that could cause it to run hot. Well, since I
asked, the radiator was about shot and he could replace it
the following week for about $xxx.00. Such a refreshing
change from all those mechanics who push repairs that you
may or may not need. (I'm not being sarcastic here). I had
the radiator work done, it ended up being about ten bucks
under $xxx.00, and my car is a lot happier in warm weather.

They are very responsive whenever I call. Once I called
at 5:30 p.m. to ask for an appointment to check my car's
radiator. They asked what was wrong and said if I had
time, I could come in immediately so they could check it
and see if it needed work and, if it did, they would make
an appointment. I went right over, they checked it out,
and said no work was needed.

As a young(ish) woman, I often feel less than respected by
mechanics. These guys treated me the way I always wanted to
be treated - they took their time to explain what was going
on, took my questions seriously, and didn't make me feel
pressured to fix something immediately. I actually feel
like I understand my car much better now!

I feel very strongly about these guys. They were recommended
to me 11 years ago by a savvy friend, and though I now live
30 miles away, I still use them. They're honest, extremely
capable, and they're careful with my money. Many times
they've pointed out upcoming problems, but suggested I wait
to do the repairs. They've kept my car running beautifully
for a quarter of a million miles, and I'll trust my upcoming
cars to them as long as I'm any reasonable distance from them.
