We have a very good Honda dealership (compitent & honest) in town and West Side delivers atleast the same level (if not higher) of service. West Side is consistantly lower priced, usually 20% to 30% less. I've had such good service from them on my personal vehicles over the years that we've begun sending our company vehicles there with the same results. The few times they have errored, they corrected it a.s.a.p. Mistakes can happen anywhere but how those mistakes are handled is what can make the difference in whether you trust them with the NEXT repair.

I took my elderly Chevy Nova (really a Toyota in disguise) in with the complaint that it was making new weird noises -- sorry, that's the best I could do on explaining the problem. Steve asked me to describe the noises which I did with as much detail as possible -- one noise seemed to be a part of the exhaust system and two sounded to be in the engine compartment. This was just before close of the business day. Steve called me before 9 a.m. the next morning with his diagnosis and cost estimate. The car was fixed and ready to pick up shortly after Noon. The final bill was within 83 cents of the original estimate. The noises are completely gone and the little car once again runs great! And Steve never once gave any indication that I was a "dumb woman" -- Even in this day and age That is not the common experience.

Have taken my wife's 1992 Miata to West Side last 4-5 years, and have been very satisfied. Steve, the owner, is always friendly and attentive to the problem. They usually get right on the job, and many times have had it finished in a couple of hours, or sooner than expected. The price seems reasonable and certainly less than the dealer. I'm very satisfied and will continue to return when necessary.

Steve is great about helping out at the drop of a hat. Our car's water pump quit and he sent a tow truck right away and got it fixed within 4 hours.

I first took in my 2001 Camry when another shop mechanic said "sell it - its about to have complete engine failure". As the car only had 160,000 on it, I wasn't ready to declare its useful life over. Steve and his crew did a tune up on it (and a couple of other fairly minor repairs since then). It's again running great at 190,000. I have plans to keep it for another 100,000.

Someone is always there early to take phone calls & arrange for emergency service even before regular operating hours. They even found a pet-friendly motel and worked on Saturday to get a cross-country traveller with a cat back on the road so they could get to their first day of work at a new job about a day's travel away.

The 6th Street bus (Topeka Transit Authority) runs right in front of the shop.
