Sam Grider is an extremely competent mechanic. If he doesn't know what the problem is, he says so and recommends someone who will know or who has the super-duper equipment to find out. Sam's charges are almost too low, I am usually shocked at how little he charges!! How many other people can say that?

Sam's a straight shooter and a good mechanic. Old school style and charges less than most. Highly recommend.

Grider's is the first place I call when I need non-warranty
car repair. Like others, I've gotten minor things fixed for
free, e.g. once when my car was very difficult to start,
Mitch cleaned the badly corrosion-caked battery posts
immediately and for free.
The only problem I've had there was with a badly wired horn
that they never fixed (but never charged me for it either,
and always told me upfront and w/o pretense what the deal
was). There was a short in the wiring somewhere and it would
be expensive to take it apart and find it, so they sent me
off to drive w/o a horn, not giving me an estimate or really
the option to get it fixed anyway.
That said, I couldn't ask for more honest and respectful
mechanics. They're a great place to go for a second
opinion/estimate and I will continue to keep them at the top
of my shop list, despite the one slightly negative
experience among a dozen or so.
