I've been a mechanic on school buses, so I think I usually know what is needed. I'm usually right but don't have all the new tools needed today. More than once I've asked to have a specific repair done but they find a much cheaper repair to lessen the problem; e.g. 92 Jeep Ceheriokee 140k miles with tire bounce on the highway and known poor CV joints. They replaced the torsion(?) cushions that fixed 90% of the vibration. They saved me CV joints for a few years. (2) Wipers slapped a lot on highway. They adjusted some instead of replacing motor & transmission; better now, but still a little slap.

These guys have worked on all of our vehicles for about 10 years. We inititally started using them when our favorite mechanic (Yeah Jay!) went there from another shop, but stuck around even after Jay moved on. They have given us great, reliable service. We're very cheap, stingy people, but we're willing to pay a bit more to have Finzel's do the work, because we know they'll do it right, or fix it if they mess up. Just an example of why they are wonderful.... We brought our 1995 Dodge van to a Goodyear service center to replace a power steering belt. It took them 3 hours, and the belt slipped off it's mounting (or whatever you call it) within a day of the repair. We brought it back two more times, with the same result. We brought it to Finzel's, they found out the reason, (off-brand part just wouldn't work in this case) got the right part, fixed it and it stayed fixed!!!!

Finzel's was like a breath of fresh air. Most places that I had taken my car to when I had lived in Terre Haute, either did not really know what they were doing, or tried to sell you repairs you really did not need. Finzel's did it right the first time, and was very up-front and honest both times I had them do work for me. If I still lived there, I'd be going there for all my repairs still.
