They take the time to explain the problems and necessary repairs
They treat male and female customers in the same manner
They are always honest
I would use this mechanic again
I would recommend this mechanic to others
They fix the problem the first time
The shop is located in a safe neighborhood
The hours of operation are convenient for customers
They are near public transportation (or provide loaners, shuttle bus, rides as needed)

I met Ed when I had an electrical problem no one else had been able to diagnose, much less correct. I had the car towed in (it had died) and within a couple of hours he had found the problem and fixed it for $30. He's a stickler for safety, explains repairs in any amount of detail as long as the customer is still listening and for his regular customers, will even loan them his car overnight if they have to drop theirs off. Regular customers may also get credit.

New to the area. Woke up to antifreeze all over the garage floor. Had no idea where to take the car. Out of desperation, I went to your web site. Ed's Garage was the closest. Took my old 1990 Toyota there. Ed was courtious. He explained what the problem was. He repaired it in a timely matter, and I felt the price was reasonable. I would not hesitate to take either of my cars there. Thank you so much for your help. Keep writing your column in "The Times." It really is very informative.
