I no longer live in the States but when I saw your column I had to write. I first encountered these guys when I was in Grad School. Drove a 79 Chevy Malibu wagon, 11 yrs old, 130K miles and drove close to 1K mi/week to pay for school. I took the car to them for routine maintenance and kept going back even after I had moved 45 miles away. They are honest, friendly in a gruffly genial way, and when they have screwed something up they've always made it right. The best advice they ever gave me was when I was considering having the engine rebuilt in the Mailibu wagon to keep the cost of a new car at bay--they told me that it was a heap and wasn't worth paying them all the money for the labor, I'd be better off buying a new car with the mileage I was accruing. I ended up putting about 75K miles/year on the new car and the Malibu never would have made it. They are fast, honest and friendly. Highly recommended.
