Although Matt Hodges speciality is "anything Volvo" and an work wonders at a fair price he is a certified master technician and will honestly tell what he can do for your "non-Volvo" auto.

Very simply, this guy knows which end of the car is up. He is a master mechanic and will give you a perfectly honest diagnosis and what needs to be done now and what can wait a bit. He finds things wrong I didn't know about and will advise me of the need for a repair on the particular problem. His prices and as good as any around here.

An extremely competent, trustworthy, fair-priced and friendly mechanic. The comment about Matt working on non-Volvo cars is correct - he has worked on my older BMW for the last 8 years. There is no other mechanic I would go to on Oahu!

Sorry, don't know the hourly rate, but we have been having our many Volvos serviced with Matt and his crew for many, many years now. They are always very fair and accurate about what is needed right now, what can wait and whether the car is worth keeping. They have helped us with our three Volvos (one was finally given away because it was very old & died soon after we gave it away). The other two run very well--one is a 1998 and the other is a 2006. The cars are all running in excellent condition. He was referred to us by this website and also by another mechanic that just couldn't get our Volvos to run properly (after many trips & LOTS of $$$). We have never gone back to the referring mechanic but return to Matt for regular servicing and when anything goes wrong with our aging Volvos. He also was cheerfully willing to evaluate a few cars we were considering acquiring, telling us about the pros and cons, expected servicing, and other relevant issues. Because we were long-time customers, he didn't even charge us for his evaluations! He takes checks or credit cards and generally finishes cars the day you bring them in (though appointments are required). Am VERY happy with him and he is very near the bus line.
