Over the last 10 years Southern Appalachian Auto has serviced my Acura Legend, Infiniti I35 and Chevy Suburban. I live in Johns Creek and go to Southern Appalachian Auto because I trust Bob and Jason. Excellent service!

This repair shop is run by a Honda factory trained technician. The waiting room is clean, as is the shop area. They will let you know what could wait and what really needs to be performed right away.

Bob was my mechanic for about 10 years, and then, 5 years ago, I moved to another state. I have not been able to replace him. Yesterday, I rang him as I'm losing faith in my local shop and had a few questions. True to form, Bob walked me through checking out things myself and some of the other variables. Bob is one of those rare mechanics who is happy to educate his customers, treats them and their dogs well, let's them know what to expect and has a wonderful laugh.

They have always been dependable and on time with repairs, and dead on the money with estimates.

I have had problems with my "check Engine" warning light coming on with my 1996 Nissan Pickup...Bob, the owner stops what he is doing when I come by and plugs his hand held detector into my trucks cable to see why the light comes on..The sensor shows that the engine is misfiring but there are no signs of it actually happening...Bob has reset the warning light, told me to let him know if it happens again, tips his hat and goes back to work but doesn't charge me for the diagnosis...That's wht I keep bringing my two vehicles to him for service....

Bob always helped we with my Honda, and helped me to pick out my new used cars (not Hondas), including free inspections. He started the new guy, Jason, back in about 1998, and has taught him well. I always feel like I got a little more than I paid for out of my repairs.

My daughter had taken her car to another shop with a check engine light problem. It was a distributor problem. They replaced the distributor with an after market part. . .4 times. My daughter is a 20 year old college student. Her car stranded her 4 times. . .once on a lonely stretch of road on 316 between Athens and Atlanta at 12:15 at night. After 4 times with the same problem to the same mechanic, she called me. Oh, and the last time they replaced the distributor, they told her an $800 computer chip was causing the distributor to go bad. So she had over $1800 into the repair. Two days after getting her car back the 4th time with a new distributor and a new $1,000 computer chip (over $200 for installation of a chip that Bob told me called for a 30 minute installation charge), the same problem showed up again. A friend of mine who works in the automative industry supplying CV joints to mechanics recommended Bob to me. Bob took my car in the same afternoon I called him. The next morning he told me that I had an aftermarket distributor in the car and that he had never been able to make the aftermarket distributor parts work on a Honda. So he installed a new sensor at the base of the distributor with a genuine Honda part. Problem fixed. Bob educated me about the problem. With knowledge in head, I confronted the mechanic my daughter had used. I got a refund from them because I caught them with their hand in the cookie jar. Bob told me that my daughter could call him when she has any more problems with her car and he would tell her whether she can take it to a local mechanic in Athens or whether she should bring it in to him. I trust Bob to do what is in her best interest rather than his. My friend who recommended Bob to me has known him for many years. Bob has a reputation of treating customers right the first time. . .every time. Reputation is such a valuable thing. Bob has my unreserved recommendation. Randall Walters

I am a mom, and I get nervous about being ripped off. I was so glad to find Southern Appalachian Auto. When I called and said I needed my rear struts replaced, he said "You must have an Odyssey." Of course I did! Anyway, the morning that I went, he had the parts ordered, delivered, and on my car, and I paid, all in one hour. The price was very reasonable - under $200 total. He also told me things I did not know about my own van - how certain things worked. He also showed me the bad strut/shock that was obviously leaking oil everywhere. I am very happy with the price and service -will definitely use again!
