A week before we leave Michigan for Florida, of course, the check engine light comes on in my 2003 Odyssey. I changed the plugs and the EGR valve and nervously hit the road. By the time we got to Tarpon Springs Fla.(1200 miles later,)the check engine light was blinking every time I stopped at a light.I took it to the Honda dealer in town, and after a $120.00 diagnostic check, they determined that I had zero compression in my number 4 cylinder, and I needed a new engine, cost $3700.00. I paid the diagnostic fee and keeping my hand on my wallet, backed slowly from the dealership. I checked the Car Talk website for reputable mechanics, (thinking those bozos on the radio have gotta be good for something). I went to Pinellas Auto, and $420.00 dollars later, I had 1 new injector and coupler, freshly snaked out EGR ports. Thanks Paul,Darlene,Shannon and, of course, the wonderful Car Talk program staff, for it's been two weeks, and the van runs like it's brand new.
