Virgil runs this garage under, I guess, his original shade tree (which does have buildings now!) He operates the place with his son and son-in-law as mechanics, and his daughter-in- law handling the office. As a bonus, his toddler grandson has his own special corner of the front office. VirgilHe has looked after me well ever since I found him, and has always been willing to go the extra mile for me with advice and assistance. Recently, they helped me find a "new" vehicle which I am extremely happy with. When I take my car there, I feel like I'm taking it to someone in my own family, and I have been very happy with their work.

Virgil owns the shop, his daughter runs the office, and his son-in-law works in the shop with him. Virgil takes time to explain everything to us, whether it is me, my wife or our sons, spells out the options, and actually tells us when there is nothing wrong (no charge) or he can do a cheap fix, e.g. find used parts. He even tells me when it is something I can easily fix myself, if I want to. In ten years we have gone back only once about a repair, and he fixed it without additional charge. Virgil and his family have kept our cars in tip-top shape for over ten years: Volkswagen Bug ('69), Volkswagen Dasher (diesel -- as if anybody could), Mitsubishi Montero, Honda Accord, and Nissan Pathfinder and Sentra. Most important, Virgil has passed up several chances to gouge us unmercifully when we were totally clueless, so now we just tell him to fix it and don't even call with the estimate. Totally great mechanic, one of three we have found in 3O years; makes him one mechanic in a decade.

Virgil is taking a less-active role now, but the rest of the family is still there every day. I bought my car from them, and I have taken it back for whatever it needs (as well as the car prior) without ever being disappointed. Friendly, more than competent, fair and helpful. Couldn't recommend them more, but you'll have to fight with all us locals to get your car in there!

I have always felt comfortable taking my vehicle to this shop. Virgil and his family have no agenda's but to fix your car and make you happy. I would drive all the way across town to use their shop - I did for several years.
