I had a bad intake gasket on a Chevy truck (coolant leak).
Based on reviews on this web site, I called Jim up. He was
honest and timely and did a good job. He overlooked
another potential problem on his quote, but caught it and
gave me a break on price; overall it was less than 2/3 of
other quotes.

I just moved to the Miami area and my car crapped the bed
as soon as I took it off the car hauler. Some coworkers
recommended Jim and the folks at Car Port. I was more than
satisfied, as they did everything within their power to
help me out. They went above and beyond (I purchased a new
distributor from Napa and they installed it for free). If
you are new to south Dade and looking for a shop, I'd
highly recommend Car Port.

I used Car Port auto based on the previous post. The
actual number for the shop is 305-245-8335. The number
listed is for Jim's cell phone.
We had problems with a grinding noise coming from my
Civic's engine. He called and asked me to come back
because, of course, the noise decided to become as quiet
as the rest of then engine as soon as I left the car with
him. I identified the noise and he repaired the problem.
I left the car there over the weekend because my wife went
to work Friday afternoon with her Hyundai Sonata and I was
unable to pick up the car when it was finished. That
night her power steering went out. She had her car towed
back home, but we were left without any car. I called Jim
on his cell and he was nice enough to come in on a
Saturday so we could get the Sonata towed there and so I
could pick up my Civic and not be left without a car. AAA
said that I could write a check for the tow since I did
not have any cash on me, but the driver was crazy and went
irate over $2.50. Jim paid the driver himself and said
that we could just add it to the bill later. I had also
been putting off having a brake job done on my Civic for
some time because I was afraid of the cost. The next
month I had some more money and I decided to get it done,
expecting it to cost several hundred dollars. He said
that the rotors were thick enough to machine down since
they were warped and he just charged me for a set of brake
pads and a little labor.
I highly recommend Jim and Car Port Auto. If you need
any work done, he is an honest and straightforward
mechanic.
