Over and over George has been able to find the subtle, quirky problems right away. Like the 84 Chevy van my father-in-law gave us last year. Perhaps the generosity was such a problem vehicle. Although it had been tuned up 3 times, it still ran rough, backfired, low power, etc. New carborator? George - 3 seconds -- "needs a tune-up, but let me warn you, it'll cost" Why? The AC had to be taken out to tune the van!! And the all those yahoo mechanics in Tennessee were taking the shortcut of only doing a little tuneup. BTW, it's run great ever since!! That's sort of my point. True, George, his staff, and his wife who works there too, charge reasonable rates commensurate with their expertise. But they have NEVER added work that didn't need to be done, have stood behind the parts warranties, and always treated us fairly. That's why we've been going there for 17 years. And in my book, that's what the ideal mechanic is -- one who understands YOU and the level of mainenance required for your needs, who is honest, dependable, and caring -- ok, and reasonably priced.

I had a problem with my column shifter( automatic), the
shop that my wife and her aunt swears by quoted me a price
of $250.00 to fix the problem. I took it to Costal Motors
(now Hopkins ) and Jeff fixed it for $10, I have been
going back ever since.
