I've had a string of very odd repairs that had to be done on my Oldsmobile. The ignition key stopped working, the driver door handle stopped working, the passenger door sagged horribly. They were prompt and knowledgeable and did everything, everytime at a great price. They recommended a body shop for the door sag, instead of taking a chance on a recurrent problem. Great! I enjoy the convienient location; right on the bus line and near a shopping center within walking distance. They have a comfortable customer waiting area, with access to a phone, CURRENT newspapers and magazines, coffee and beverages.

I have used this company on many occassions and they have always go beyond the call of duty. The current staff of service advisors are top notch. They are always able to help me out in an emergency or on short notice, something the dealer where I bought my cars, has not been able to do.

We first started using this shop when we got tired of the condescending service "advisors" at the local Ford dealership and the grouchy jerk at a local "national name brand" tire and basic service emporium. We had a strange intermittent problem withn one of our cars that took several visits to fix, I am a service tech myself an I know how hard intermittent problems are to fix... They perservered and fixed the problem (one or two of the visis were no charge). We have had four different cars workrd on here and have been satisfied with the results... and the guys that work there are really nice.

These folks have worked on our cars for 20 years, mostly Toyotas but also a VW New Beetle. They started out as a small shop, the owner, his son, and two or three guys, doing only Japanese cars, and have expanded over the years into a full service shop, all makes, all models, with 20 bays and a fully-staffed front. The son is now the owner. They've never let us down, with old cars, new ones, cars we've bought for kids, whatever.

This shop was recommended to me after my favorite shop on Main Street closed. They gave me a complete run down on everything wrong with my car (11.5 year old Camry) but didn't pressure me to fix things that weren't critical.....unlike some dealership repair shops I've dealt with. Waiting room very clean and comfortable. Short walk to a shopping center if you have a long wait. Will definitely continue to take my car to them.

I can't recommend these guys strongly enough. I found them based on a previous Car Talk review, and they have certainly lived up to their reputation. They're honest, fast, and reasonable. Their mechanics know their stuff, and when they call to talk to you, they take the time to explain what the deal is, and why it's happening. They also have pretty good senses of humor there, which is a bonus. They will absolutely tell you if something is unsafe. They also do provide pre-purchase diagnositics if you're looking to purchase a used car (which I have just done). Their opinion of the car I wanted to purchase made the sale for me. These guys are awesome. My only con for this place is it isn't open on Saturdays. Which is kind of a bummer. But overall, I love Kirkwood Auto. They are super awesome.

Based on the recommendations of a friend and his family who have used Kirkwood Auto for many years, I first tried this shop with a car that I was selling. Though I knew exactly what was wrong, I just described it in general terms. They found and fixed what I knew to be wrong and at a fair price. I am very particular about my car's (Lexus LS) mechanicals and do some of the service work on it myself. It had a certain problem that the dealer had been unable to correct, or denied actually existed despite the objective evidence. So I decided to let the guys at Kirkwood give it a try. I explained the problem in minute detail. Their first attempt failed to correct the issue. The shop supervisor added his input and the problem was solved immediately. I have recommended them to four others so far. As you have read from several reviewers, the shop is very clean, orderly, professional and pleasant. Downsides: No Sat. hours, no loaner cars (rental a few blocks away with pick-up at the shop)and no delivery.
