Listener Guest Book: Tom Magliozzi

Thanks for all the great laughs and advice. I remember listening to y'all in my Dad's Chrysler Lazer as a little kid. I'm now pushing 30 and still listen, and laugh, to/at y'all every week. Thanks for the treasures.

I've been an on again, off again listener over the decades. Not one for schedules, I would brighten up each time I 'happened' upon a broadcast. Recently I catch the re-broadcasts on Sirius during my evening commute home. I often find myself reminiscing of times surrounding the 'originally broadcast date'. Recalling what I might have been doing at that time in my life. Times when cars were simpler, and life in general was also. An hour's worth of 'safe haven', timeless and priceless. Thank you Tom and Ray for your contribution. May Tom rest in peace.

I have so many fond memories of listening to the show, driving around with my dad, and laughing. (I even occasionally learned a few things about cars). I introduced the show to my two girls, and last year my older daughter was proud to receive a Car Talk t-shirt for Christmas, and it is her favorite shirt. Thank you.We are thinking of you....

My deepest condolences go to Tom's family and friends. Tom and Ray provided laughter and education at the same time. Thank you for the great times. I will continue listening.

What a tremendous loss. I will really miss him. Tom's infectious laugh will live on, even if only in re-runs. Listening to Car Talk is a Saturday morning ritual at my house.

Very sorry to hear of your (and our) loss. He's probably negotiating (arguing) with St. Peter right now about installing a smoking section in comedy heaven.

I feel like I've lost a favorite relative, or best friend. The Click and Clack brothers were the highlight of my Saturday mornings for many years now. Car Talk will always be the best and funniest show on the radio, and words cannot describe the sadness I feel. I never knew a darn thing about cars, but it was the hysterically funny brothers that kept me listening week after week. I even thought about calling in and making up a car problem just so I could be a part of their silliness!! Thank you so much for sharing your wit and humor with your listeners Tom, you've brought joy to a lot of people. God Bless and my condolences to Ray. Such a sad day. :(

Thanks for the laughs, Tom. I hope all of the heaps you've owned follow you into the afterlife so you can leave them on God's front lawn for years. I'm sure he won't mind (and neither will Ray). You brought nothing but happiness and laughter into this world - I'm sure even your ex-wives will agree with that. You will be missed.

Oh my! I just saw the announcement on TV and I am crying. Tom and Ray were a constant in my life; providers of laughs, philosophy, and Puzzlers. I will miss his laughter. Tom and Ray should be honored as the best example of what NPR can be. What a loss for us all. Prayers to the families.

What I want to know is...how can you tell the difference?? (I hope you know that was said with love.) Tom & Ray and Car Talk have been a weekly part of my life for many, many years. It all started when my dad was teaching me how to drive. He always made sure we got a lesson in on Saturday morning so we could listen to the show together. Even after I got my license, I continued to listen week after week. Lots of laughs and lots of memories. Tom will truly be missed. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I always loved listening to Car Talk on Saturdays, I laughed, learned something about cars and enjoyed the back and forth between Tom and Ray. When we were in the car my 7 year old daughter called them "The Laughing Guys". We would play a game to see how long it would take before Tom would laugh. Answer -- not very long! And then we would laugh too. I'm really sorry for your loss, but thank you for the great memories.

Oh, what a loss. I first heard the brothers while driving to Maine, one summer in the early 90's. and have listened ever since. All my relatives are from Boston and they all sound like Tom and Ray, so every time they'd start laughing. I couldn't help but laugh right along, and laughter would bring back so many wonderful memories. Thanks, you two.

Back in my early Cambridge days I used to work on my VW at The Good News Garage. For $3/hour, you got a space in a warm dry place to crawl under the car versus crawling under the car on a snow-covered street. What a deal! The radio show came later and it was a smashing success. Week after week of gut-wrenching laughter. Thanks for the dry space and the wonderful radio entertainment. RIP Tom. Many many thanks to you both.

I listened to these to for years whenever we went to New Hampshire with my family; they were our soundtrack for those beloved trips. Mr. Magliozzis' family should feel proud and content with his work as I saw it. Thank you for your humor and your warmth which all of us felt through our radios. NPR will never feel the same.

What a great loss. It's hard to hear that a man with a laugh and a personality as big as his is gone. My most heartfelt condolences to you, Ray, and to Tom's family.

Thank you Tom and Ray for years of brightening up my Saturday morning. Listening to Car Talk was almost a "sacred ritual" of my Saturday mornings. I planned my chores and errands around Car Talk and other NPR Saturday morning shows so that I could laugh and get "wise" car advise.

Even though I never got to meet Tom or Ray I feel like a close family member has passed. You could listen to the show and FEEL the love and genuine caring between Tom, Ray and the audience. I would have paid for the opportunity just to sit in studio. They don't make them like Tom any more. I'll pass on this month's boat payment and send it to NPR in his name. I'll miss you.

I'm very sad to learn of this. Anyone who laughed that much and that well should live forever. My Saturday mornings will be less fun, but I hope that Ray will carry on with another kindred spirit.

i don't really know what to say - I feel like Tom and I hung out for so many years on weekend mornings. When I was moving all around the US, it was one of the few constants in my life. And now all my kids and I laugh like crazy at the old shows. My five year old tells me he loves the show, which is great, because it gives him a chance to develop a good sense of humor. Which my nine year old thinks I totally lack. So apart from the car advice, thanks for the parenting help.

I have listened to Tom and Ray for so long. It is now something I listen to with my 12 year old, 10 year old, and my 6 year old. We all love it. No fights in the car when they are on - only laughing. I am really sad about the news. All my love and prayers go to the family
