So very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. My kids grew up listening to you guys and Tom's laugh --no matter what he was talking about -- always set everybody off and just set the tone for our car rides. And his snorts. "What the heck do you know about creme rinse?"

Ray, my family's condolences and best wishes are with you and Tom's family. I've been a long-time fan of Car Talk, and I promise you, Tom is already being missed by millions. You guys taught me literally everything I know about what's always wrong with my car, sometimes just from the noises alone. Thank you for being a regular part of my life, making me an amateur mechanic, and letting us all laugh along with you guys each week (and more often on the podcasts). My weekends will never be the same again.

My heartfelt condolences to you all. His laughter should be archived as one of the most joyous sounds on the planet. My Car Talk story is this, a Facebook post from two years ago..
Great Moments, by Karen Boeder
Before we left for Dallas on Friday, Paul's car wouldn't start. We had it towed to mechanic's shop. Paul kept referring to trouble with the battery, I kept saying that there was something wrong with the starter. Yesterday, after one too many battery trouble comments, I said, "Look, I've been listening to Click and Clack for years, that makes me an expert and I'm telling you the battery is fine, it's the starter."
Paul just called, the car is ready to be picked up... "what was wrong?" I asked, all innocent... "the starter had to be replaced" he replied.... thank you, thank you very much.
Much love to you all.

In 1998, I got my license at 16 and my car was a '77 Green Buick LeSabre equipped with an 8 track player and CB radio. So clearly my favorite times to drive were Saturday mornings when I could listen to Tom and Ray on Car Talk. I even left a couple messages about 'The Pickle' and its entertaining problems hoping I could be on the show! RIP Tom.

Ray & Family, thank you for sharing Tom with us. I've spent many a Saturday morning with the two of you. Prayers and Blessings to all of you. Tom, RIP.

Tom and Ray you have enriched my life as well as millions more. Tom you will be deeply missed but perhaps you can work on the old 63 Dodge Dart now. I am better for having been a loyal listener for over 20 years and a bit wiser for solving 1 or 2 of your puzzlers. I must say that the one thing that always makes me think of you guys is the puzzler you had about the guy that can always guess how a car will pull up to a gas station to fill up the tank purely based on which side the exhaust is on. That has always stuck with me. RIP Tom...

Such an amazing adventure of a life he lived. I am so grateful that I happened to tune in one day and find Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers. Thank you, Tom and Ray, for all the laughs and fun over the years. And remember, don't drive like my brother.

Ray, I am so sorry for the loss of your brother Tom! But, as you so appropriately stated he lived life on his own term. And what a life it was! We will still have the many hours of broadcasts to listen to. I hope they will continue. In this small way we can keep his memory alive. You and your brother have brought years of fun and laughter to my family! Tom will be sorely missed! I send prays to you and your family! God Bless!

I'm so sad to hear of Tom's passing. I truly loved wasting another perfectly good hour listening to him and Ray every Saturday for the past 20-some years. My condolences to the entire Magliozzi family.

I have listened to Car Talk for many years. Tom and Ray always made me laugh! I would always listen to the guys as I would be working around my house. My neighbors had to think I was crazy as I would have on my headphones, laughing out loud at what had to appear as if I had lost my mind.
I want to thank the family for allowing Tom the time to make me laugh every week!
Rest in Peace!
Paul

Very sorry to hear the sad news. I had only been listening to the show for a few years but since then it was a "must listen" each week. What a wonderful rapport Tom & Ray had and they brought much joy!

Dear Ray and family, I am so sorry for your loss!
Tom and you have brightened most of my Saturday mornings with silliness and infectious laughter. Tom will be dearly missed. Thank you for the gift of laughter, humor, insights and honesty!

I feel like I've lost an old friend or older brother...a go-to guy for advice, counsel and laughs. I've enjoyed listening to the show for more than 25 years....and catch the repeats too! Tom will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to the Magliozzi family.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Alzheimer's has robbed me of family members so I know how hard that is. In time, his memory will bring you comfort. I am forever thankful for the years of radio and newspaper advice and laughs.

I'm so sorry to hear the news about Tom. You guys have been my favorite radio show hosts for many years. Tom's laugh is much like my own grandfather's who passed several years ago and it always makes me feel good to hear it. Thanks for all the fun and countless laughs. Prayers for your family during this difficult time.

Man... I'm not old enough to have been along for the whole ride, but I grew up listening to Tom and Ray. Me and my dad rarely missed a show when we hung out on the weekends.
I'll miss hearing his voice, and I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet him.

My entire family, including my three teenaged children, are huge Car Talk fans. Thank you Tom and Ray for one of the best talk shows EVER to grace the public air waves. Ray, please accept our sincere condolences from the Creech-Pritchett Family of Apex, NC.

I was shocked to hear of Tom's death. I send my condolences to you Ray and all of your family and friends. I loved listening to Car Talk, and especially hearing Tom's laugh. His laugh reminded me of my father who is also gone. Thanks for the memories!

I'm from Massachusetts and stumbled upon Click and Clack on WBUR before npr syndication. Nothing on the air ever brought more pleasure than Car Talk. Tom was the perfect blend of humorist and ethicist, and, from my experience taking my '79 Colt to his garage, a darned good mechanic.
