This is a family business. Doug is a certified BMW mechanic and does great work. He is very honest and has advised me on what I should not bother to spend money on and what is worth doing or necessary. His wife Michelle runs the office and keeps the records. If you need a ride to anywhere in the downtown area Michelle will drop you off and pick you up in the afternoon. They specialize in foreign cars. I recommend them to anyone who wants to find a well trained, informed and honest mechanic.

I have been taking my car to Island Imports since 2000. They were recommended by another satisfied customer, when no mechanic (including the dealer) seemed able to discover what was wrong with my Toyota. They diagnosed and repaired the problem in a day, at reasonable expense. I have been taking my car there, since. They help me keep my clunker on the road!

They did a great job when I brought the car in and did the job very well. My only complaint is that it was an old car and had a lot of problems that could have been fixed, but I didn't want to pay more to have it fixed than the car was actually worth. I just wanted to keep it going. The things they did repair were repaired well, but their attitude about fixing everything wasn't in line with my interest and their prices were a little high.

This is the first car repair facility I have been in that has original art work on the walls. The shop has a very artsy feel. The owners, Doug and Michelle Tweedy, are very competent, capable and friendly, and Doug and the mechanics specialize in the repair of import autos. Michelle offered me a drink of my choice on a hot, muggy summer Richmond day. They were recently featured in Richmond's monthly magazine in July 2006. Honest and excellent - what more could you ask for?
