these guys have been in business for decades. Isamu Kuromi, upon his release from the internment camps, after ww2, began working as a mechanic...saving as little as 5 cents a week! he eventually opened his shop...Ise Automotive...and began training his 2 sons, Craig and Gary, in his craft. they are generalists...with a bias toward the big 3 Japanese, nissan, and honda, as well as there up-market, infiniti, and acura. their passion is old ford mustangs. specifically 1964 to 1967. their honest and integrity is unmatched. they will actually tell you what not to spend money on, for your car! as a result...they are booked 2 weeks in advance, most of the time. most of their client have been with them for years. tom doherty

Ise Automotive is a truly great car mechanic. And HONEST! I've been going there since 1991, when I drove to Los Angeles from New York in my brand new Toyota Corolla. 17 years and 280,000 miles later - spring of 2008 -did I finally retire the car. And it was in such good condition because of Ise Automotive, I got 4 or 5 times the Blue Book value for it when I let it go. This business has been in the same family for over 60 years. Craig and Gary, the brothers who run it now, are every bit as great as their dad was. When they check your car out, you're given an accurate assessment of the problem. They don't invent mechanical problems that don't exist. And their price is always fair. Major TV networks and newspapers have gone undercover and brought in cars with "problems" for them to check out. If Ise Automotive thinks the car checks out okay, they say, "There's nothing wrong with your car." They haven't got a dishonest bone in their bodies. These media car mechanic "stings" always mention that Ise Automotive is one of the few honest ones out there. I went in with a question once and they agreed that the problem should be fixed, but it wasn't that serious and I could hold off for another 6 months before doing it. If they were doctors, we'd call their style a "conservative approach" for the diagnosis. When they do this, they're basically saying "You're not going to flush your money down the toilet here for bogus work." WOW!! Call them first, because they don't fix all makes of car and they're always pretty busy. But Melissa, the manager, will always try to accommodate you. Another thing, not only is Melissa in the office fabulous, but all the mechanics are great ?? Craig and Gary as well as Hector and Leeor. They even had a great female mechanic, Lauren, for a few years, until she moved up north with her husband. I know this review is over the top, but look at the other reviews. Everyone is crazy in love with the folks at this auto shop. PS I bought my new car based on Gary's recommendation, and I love it!

Okay, so I've been going to these guys for years. They worked for 17 years on my Toyota Corolla wagon, and now they change the oil on my great new Honda Fit. They talk straight, and they don't mess around. They're always pretty darn busy, but Melissa in the office (who's worked there for years) will get you an appointment as soon as possible. A few times the car's been dead as a doornail or it's been a real emergency, and I've had to have the car towed there in the night. If it's after business hours, I'd park it in the little mini-mall parking lot across the street or on a side street. Then I'd call them in the morning, and they'd either start working on it or tell me how soon they'd get on it. These guys never complain or blame you or jerk you around. The charges are fair, and they may even give you a little time to pay it off. Yeah, go to Ise Automotive if you want a really good mechanic.
