Bob is a representative of the disappearing species of super-honest mechanics. Many years ago I took in my old Volvo with an intermittent starting problem. Bob fixed it, but two days later the problem reappeared. This time Bob said I'd be better off taking it to the dealer. I did - the dealer never fixed the problem. Weeks later I called Bob to see if he was going to finally deposit the check I had written him, as it hadn't cleared my account. He said he had torn up the check since the work he had done did not solve my problem. And this was the only time Bob did not find and solve the problem the first time in some 15 years.

First, I must say I have no relationship with Holland Service or anyone working there other then as a customer. I am a biased customer because they have earned my bias. Over the years I've had dealings with very few auto mechanics and doctors I've been willing to go back to. I am thankful to have Holland Service to go back to.

I've only been there once, but they had the problem diagnosed and fixed in a few hours and were great about communicating price and time it would be finished. It's good to find someone good in Berkeley that knows domestic cars. They were also recomended by other neighborhood mechanics.

I have had brakes replaced, the ignition lock changed, and mystery sounds that were located and not found to be anything that needed fixing. I also have a sepentine belt that make that shreiking sound, and they fix it for free with silicone spray whenever I drive in. As a woman who is used to being talked down to, I am treated with respect as an intelligent individual. Janna
