Jim Hanna left Charlotte, North Carolina shortly after graduating high school and drove out to Hollywood, California to seek gainful employment as a stunt car driver, which he believed would be the most fruitful way of sharing his gift for ruining other people's cars. Jim soon decided that stunt-car driving wouldn't be a stable, dignified profession, so he switched to stand-up comedy and toured the country performing in comedy clubs, (and a bowling alley, a hockey rink, a factory floor) occasionally putting rental cars through their paces in empty mall parking lots just to stay sharp. Noticing that he was beginning to take on the odor of beer-soaked carpet, Jim switched from nightclub based humor to television writing and was given an Emmy, which he says holds papers down as well as anything.
Jim writes about what he likes -- cars with character, characters with cars, and great drives in beautiful places.
