First I brought Rick a '81 Isuzu P'up, and much to our surprise the transmission was not bolted, but welded on there. Him and his boys got right in there, cut through the weld, fixed the starter gear, installed a new clutch and welded the tranny right back on there, without charging extra. Another time, we brought my wife's '84 Toyota Camry in to replace the valve stem seals, and having just come back from the dentist, Rick accidentally knocked over the distributor of our car, sitting on a shelf, and destroyed it. He only told us so we would know that it had been replaced with an aftermarket distributor, but otherwise there was no charge, no dirty tricks to cover his losses. All in all, out of the many mechanics I have entrusted my vehicles to, Rick and the crew at Atlas Motors have been a shining example of honesty, integrity as well as competence. He has always told me all the alternatives, and consistently delivers what is paid for, and then some. Service with a smile, two thumbs up.

I drive a 1996 Toyota Tacoma PU . When I first came to Atlas Auto , a Toyota dealer had told me I needed a new clutch - immediately - at an estimated cost of $1200.00 ! Rick said he could not find anything wrong with the clutch - but adjusted something ( I don't recall what ) ,and sent me on my way with NO CHARGE ! Yes , 45,000 miles later , I did need a new clutch and Rick replaced it at two-thirds the cost the Toyota dealer had estimated ! Since that time , Rick at Atlas Auto has handled all my repairs and tune-ups . He is reasonable and efficient - and always fixes the problem the first time ! My truck now has over 200,000 miles on it - and runs nice and smooth . I cannot say enough good things about Rick and the guys at Atlas Auto .

New to the area with a truck needing serious attention, I held my breath and decided to trust the review for Rick I found on this website. I was more than relieved to find in Rick a capable, affable, attentive mechanic. He even swung me a deal, charging me for three hours less labor than he could have. He kept me well informed by phone and had my vehicle ready sooner than I had even hoped. He made mention of something I'll want to keep an eye on in the future and offered to keep tabs on it for me for free in 10,000 miles; plenty of times I've had a mechanic try to scare me into a pricey repair like this. I'll also add a recommend for any woman out there looking for a mechanic who will treat you like a real person, and then some; Rick's your guy. I've had any number of mechanics work on my vehicle and Rick is up there with the best of them.

I was going to have my timing belt replaced on my 2002 Hyundai Sonata before it went and destroyed the engine. I had used another mechanic in Grand Junction before, and he gave me an estimate of $886 to replace the timing belt and water pump. Rick at Atlas did this for only $535. They were quick and very friendly. I then brought my jeep in the next day as I had a couple tail lights out. They were apologetic that they couldn't do it right then as part of their full service gas station (hard to believe there are still full service gas stations around) but they didn't have the bulbs I needed in stock. Took them no time to do it and only charged me 20 minutes labor. These guys are very friendly and honest and will be getting all my car repair business from now on.

I found these guys through this Car Talk site when I first moved to town about 3 years ago. I've used them for my Ford Ranger, my wife's Subaru and then her Toyota Echo, and my son's older Toyota pickup truck. They've even helped me decide on what to buy after my wife totalled her Subaru. Long story short: You don't find better mechanics than these guys in all regards. Plus, they are just really nice, decent people.

Don't expect your vehicle to be done in any kind of a timely manner or to be treated with respect when you check in on your vehicle. Every time I called or showed up in the five days my truck sat down at the shop not getting worked on, I got treated like I was taking valuable time away from Rick even though it was a total of less than five minutes per day. Every time I checked in on my vehicle, there was magically something else wrong with it or something that was going to delay the repair another day. At a grand total of three thousand dollars and almost a week of no vehicle, you think Rick would have a little compassion or understanding about the inconvenience on my life this situation was. Bottom line take your vehicle somewhere else. I know I will be from here on.

Diagnosed problem quickly and correctly. Ordered part from large supplier. Parts supplier sent used, defective part instead of new. Found out problem timely, disclosed up front and did not charge for additional labor (caused by supplier's mistake). This is typical of the work and service provided by this shop (staff). Always provide quality work at market competitive price.
