The owner of this small shop is Robert. Robert has worked on my '81 Honda Accord a few times and I've been very impressed. I went to him on the recommendation of the Car Talk X-Files and specifically because one of the reviewers said he was honest, economical and treated females in the same manner as men. I couldn't agree more, Robert was all of the above. Since I was low on funds, Robert even gave me a break down on what repairs were needed immediately versus what repairs could wait. He was very reasonable price wise and very prompt on repairs. He always explained everything he did and was very friendly. I was very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him to others. Joy B

I first took my car to Robert Tello at J & S Auto in 1993 through the recommendation of a friend, and have been recommending them to other people ever since. Just today I took my car in to J & S as my heater worked sporadically, sometimes producing cold air before I reached my destination. Robert and his mechanic Raoul took painstaking efforts (all of which I was able to watch)to narrow the cause down to an electrical problem within the temperature control unit which they had to take apart to investigate, right down to testing voltage across the circuit board itself. Initially they suspected the thermostat as the problem, which they replaced, and even though it didn't solve the problem with the heater, it did cause my formerly non-functioning temperature guage to work again. Rather than tell me I had to purcahse a new temperature control which would have cost over $500 from the dealer, Robert and Raoul offered to adjust my control to the point where the heat is on whenever the fan is on, disconnect the unit until they could locate a used temperature control unit and show me how to easily reconnect the unit should I decide not to purchase a replacement and wish to use my air conditioner again in the Summer. Not only that, but they didn't charge me for the used thermostat and offered to waive the labor charges on installing a used temperature control unit should they locate one, as they had already charged me the labor for installing the thermostat. Robert did this knowing that the labor it took to locate the actual problem would have cost me considerably more than what he charged me to replace the thermostat. A couple of years ago, Robert even went so far as to physically visit various scrapyards (offering to take me with him) in search of a used distributor for my Mazda, saving me hundreds of dollars when he found one. J & S Auto Service is a small, independent shop consisting only of Robert and Raoul, but you will immediately sense the level of expertise, feel like you've made friends who would never cheat you and come away with a clear understanding of the problem, knowing that you've gotten more than your money's worth. I have never experienced better customer service, level of detail and explanation of the work from any business in any industry in all the years that I've been doing business.

I've gone to Paul for the last few years for a number of problems with my Ford Taurus ranging from brakes to problems with the master cylinder. Paul fixed everything the first time at a reasonable cost, and a couple of times advised me to hold off on making repairs that I had mistakenly thought necessary. I've recommended him to friends and relatives who've also had good experiences.

I used to take my car in to Robert and always had good service. Last time I went in Paul had the shop. I had a tune-up done on a suburu. When I got it home it had trouble starting. I took it back in and he said he'd done everything right, and since Suburus are reliable cars not to worry. I continued to have random trouble starting the car (including in remote locations) until I had an oil change at a gas station, the car has started fine since then. So I think it might not have been a big problem for the car but it was for me and I wish Paul had at least opened the hood and looked around. If Robert is there I would recommend the shop.

These guys are great. They take the time to tell you whats wrong and why it needs to be fixed. They always show me the broken part and explain how it could have happened. There are too many good things to say about this guys so I will just close with this, if you live within 30 miles of this place you should take your car there for all major/minor repairs, you will never feel like they are telling you a tale about what repair you need.

I couldn't be happier with the consistently wonderful service I receive every time I take one of my vehicles to J and S Auto Service. EVERYTHING from the low prices to the quality of service to the fast repairs is unbeatable. After dealing with too many grumpy old mechanics that smelled like ashtrays and lacked any form of communication skills, J and S Auto was a breath of fresh air. Paul, the mechanic and manager, always takes the time to sit down with me and inform me of all of my options and give me a low estimate. Then, we decide what route to take based on the urgency of the repair and my financial situation at the time! More than a few times him and Robert (the owner.. who also speaks spanish) have really helped me out with very reasonable prices because they understand that everyone needs a reliable vehicle. Also, I don't have to worry about sending my daughters there. They get the same friendly service and I know they're not getting ripped off- that's something I can't say about other places either. Last time I came down, Paul was even fixing a neighbors wheelchair! (would you ever see THAT at a Brakes Plus or a Grease Monkey?!) I would- and DO- recommend J and S Auto Service to anyone that needs a good, trustworthy mechanic. They do all repairs and scheduled maintenances (brakes to oil changes) on domestic and foreign vehicles. You won't find a better place for any price, I promise!

They are very friendly and genuinely concerned about your problem. I felt very comfortable around them and felt they had my best interest in mind. As a widow, I always worry about whether or not I will get an honest diagnosis and with these guys I was treated fairly. They will continue to get my business.

I took my car here because of the comments on this site, and was not disappointed. Paul was very professional and helpful, and was willing to be creative to get me the best price - like suggesting where I could buy a part for cheaper, but have him install it. He always took the time to explain problems and made sure to answer any questions I had. If I weren't moving to Virginia, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
