Recently had truck towed by triple A more than 15 miles to this shop because the transmission locked, and he is my favorite mechanic. Tow driver couldn't get the truck off of the flatbed, but John poured dish soap mixed with water down the back of the tow bed and towed the truck off the back of the flatbed with his little car (an old neon or something that one of his customers gave him), so that he could let the tow driver go and get my car in his shop. This guy is probably the nicest, most honest person in the auto-mechanic business and I always recommend him- everybody at my job uses him now because he keeps us all on the road without any bs, backpedaling, excuses, or condescension. He always calls the shots how he sees them, and the few times that a job became more complicated than he expected, he charged what he estimated, and made arrangements / gradual plan to repair added problems weekly so we could drive and budget the money needed for those repairs. He also serves on the Civil Air Patrol I found out the last time I went there for a repair, which is not a surprise since he seems to be a community minded person with a strong sense of ethics.
