Donate a Car in Texas

The Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program delivers 80% of the revenue generated through a car donation directly to the Texas public radio station of your choice. While the best part of donating a car in Texas is the support you provide to the stations that deliver the news, music and talk to your radio every single day, the second best part is how easy you can donate:

  1. Have your vehicle title ready.
  2. Follow this link to the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program or call us at 1-877-215-0227.
  3. Answer the questions about your car and yourself.
  4. Select a date and time to have your car picked up.

It’s that simple.

Note: If your vehicle is missing its title, you can obtain a duplicate from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. You can download the form at the Texas DMV website.

Do I need to fill out paperwork?

On the day your vehicle is picked up, you’ll need to transfer your vehicle title. In order to complete your Texas car donation, transfer your title by printing and signing your name in two sections:

  • The front of the title where it says, “Signature of Owner or Agent.”
  • The back of the title where it’s marked, "Signature of Seller/Agent."
  • Make sure your name is printed and signed exactly as it appears printed on the front of the title.

What should I do the day my vehicle is picked up?

The day of your scheduled vehicle pickup, you’ll need to provide the driver with the completed title and car keys. Once the vehicle sells, you'll receive a vehicle donation receipt for tax purposes.

Can I donate my car if it won’t pass a smog check in Texas?

Yes! Vehicles between 2 and 24 years old registered in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, Williamson and El Paso counties must have emissions tested. If your vehicle won’t pass and it’s clogging up your driveway, we’ll still take it. A vehicle donation is a great way to move that car along and support your favorite public radio station.
