I had been going to dealers exclusively on all of my cars.
I was of the mistaken opinion that they would be the only
ones to really take care of my transportation needs. About
8 years ago a dealer ripped me off big time and one of the
employees was so distressed by the extent of the rip off he
called me from the inky shadows and told me how bad I had
been treated. Asking me to keep it quiet.
This guy suggested I check out Neighborhood Car Care in
Ventura for future work. He said he knew the guys and they
were honest excellent mechanics. We later got to know
the "inky shadows guy" on a personal level and found out
that he was for real! He was a genuine honest man working
in a dealership - go figure. So we took his advice.
My first opportunity to step out of the dealer umbrella was
the day my steering fell apart on a Plymouth Van. I bit the
bullet and had the vehicle taken to Neighborhood Car Care.
I could not believe how responsive and helpful these guys
were. I've been taking cars (Plymouth, Ford and Volvos)to
them ever since -- about 8 years. I have never been
dissappointed with their work.
I have found their prices to be fair and well below the
dealers. They keep track of my automotive needs. John the
owner is a top notch guy. He expanded his shop this year
because other folks are finding the same thing.
Maybe I shouldn't be sharing this information after all. I
still want to get into this place. Forget all that I have
said. Is there an undo botton on this damned thing!!##$#@
