I first met Gary Faules and his very young son in about 1991 when I was pulled into a parking lot with my 1981 Chevrolet Citation (no derisive comments please). My car had overheated and I assumed that it needed oil. I bought some at a drug store, and was standing over the engine in the pitch black trying to figure out where the oil cap was since I had never opened the hood of the car before. Gary and his son came over, and asked if they could help. Gary seemed to know what he was doing because he knew where the oil cap was on a 1981 Citation. He then told me that he had just opened a car repair shop in the area, and said that if there were any further problems with the car he could help me with it. About a week later, I was still having problems with the car so I thought I'd try Gary. It turned out that the car had a blocked radiator. Gary did the radiator job and did it right the first time. He was also very helpful in explaining the repair. I had been hoping for some time that I would find an honest, capable, dependable car repair shop close to home. I got my answer to that request when Gary helped me out that night. Gary gives his son the credit since it was his son who encouraged Gary to see if I needed help that night. His son gets to claim me as the first customer he brought to the shop. It's been 12 years and my husband and I are still very satisfied with the service and quality of California's Best. To the question: "They respond well when they screw something up:" I left it at "Not Answered / Don't Know", which is true. I don't know because they've never screwed anything up in the 12 years I've been going to the shop. One time a carburetor part for my 1981 Citation, that they had installed a month before, failed and they took care of it immediately, but I don't look at that as a "screw up" of theirs. Also, that's the only time I've had a part that they installed fail. I want to clarify it because I looked at the way the information is displayed on the website, and my answer could be interpreted that something is wrong with the shop because it looks like I didn't answer the question. What I was saying is that I don't know because I've never experienced this. Why am I going to the trouble of getting this straight? -- Because they have taken good care of our cars.
