Been going to Bill Burdine's Slomotive for over 10 years now, and he has given me only one reason (one time) to look elsewhere for competent work. He referred me out for a timing belt change on an '02 Mazda Millenia S; had to take it to a shop specializing in Mazda's for that one and it cost well over $1000 (including water pump for the car and coffee for me). Every other time, on all the various cars my family has owned over 10 years, he has performed necessary repairs as promised, on time and on budget. He has turned me away a few times when I perceived a problem that turned out to be nothing, and has also done a few "gratis" fixes on minor things where a less honest mechanic could have really stuck me. We have owned mostly Toyotas and Mazdas, but have also had Fords and even a Dodge Dakota (ugh!); Bill has been right on the money and very honest every time.

Two separate Parking lot fender benders on the same car. AAA Auto Club recommended them and they did a Superior job both times repairing my 2005 Toyota. Once for Drives side Rear fender and another for rear Bumper Cover and Trunk Lid plus Tail Light damage. They did beautiful warrantied work and The paint match was excellent both times! I can recommend them as Honest and Competent!

I brought my car here with a nagging overheating problem, based on recommendations from friends. I went in circles for months with the mechanic trying to figure it out. He eventually sent me to a radiator place, who also failed to fix the problem. I don't blame them, they acted on his advice, which was wrong. I took it back to him after they didn't fix it, and he flat out said, "I don't want to work on your car anymore". I was very civil and so was he, but I was very disappointed. I took it to another shop which diagnosed it correctly the first time. It ended up being a blown head gasket. Expensive, but getting it working again was worth it.

Easily the best shop in SLO. Go there and you will be taken care of in an honest and straightforward manner. If he can't fix your car, he will tell you and offer another mechanic that can do the job. I went in with what I though was a blown fuse on a VW Jetta that I tried to fix but couldn't get to (under the dash and hard to reach). I brought it in and it was simply a loose connection. It was fixed, for FREE! Great, great shop. Highly recommended!

This is probably the best mechanica I have ever gone to. My whole family has taken our cars to him for as long as i can remember. They have always been honest and fair and never pushed me to do any work on my car that was not needed. Their advice has always been founded and fair and their rates are more then reasonable. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good mechanic.
