I owned a 1979 Honda Accord. Great driving car but always breaking down. About 10000 miles after one of the times I had the engine pack pulled and fixed (about three months) I noticed a problem like a noise or something like that. So, I brought the car back in and after Michael & Co had my car for a day or two they called to say come and pick it up. When I asked how much it would cost Michael told me there was no charge. This convinced me that this shop is honest since I had no idea that the problem was connected to anything that had been done by the mechanic.

I picked these guys out of the Yellow Pages while looking for someone who would do radiator repair (seems like nobody does). They are an authorized AAA repair shop and are ValueStar certified, so I gave them a try. Well, they've worked on my car ever since and I won't take it anywhere else. They've fixed my radiator, installed new tires, done routine maintenance and pre-trip inspections. Everything has been same-day service, and the staff are all professional and friendly. They have a minivan they use to give rides to people who need them (although they don't do pick-up trips; just drop-offs). Everything is explained, in simple or complex language as you prefer -- they're good at determining your level of understanding without asking you outright. Being female, I'm used to having people insist on talking to my husband instead of me whenever I take my car anywhere (including car salesmen). I know more about cars than my husband does, and they always act surprised when this becomes apparent. At Michael's I get treated with respect and nobody seems surprised that I understand what they're talking about. That might go hand in hand with honesty, though. These guys look you right in the eye when they talk. They give you an estimate, and then will call you for authorization when they determine exactly what has to be done and how much it will cost. I've never been ripped off, and the radiator replacement I originally went there for was almost half as expensive as I had expected. I asked them about a broken radio antenna while I was there for something else, and the guy said I could fix it myself and described how to do it -- it was a simple job that took me and my father about 15 minutes to accomplish once we had the new antenna assembly. How's that for honesty! They specialize in collision repair and bodywork, although I've never had any done there. The pictures on their wall, however, suggest they know what they're doing. My only complaint are their hours: 7:30am-6:00pm M-F. No weekends. But I still prefer them to anyone else.

We tried this shoped based on the car talk reviews. The shop is honest and clean. I expect to make this our regular repair shop.

Michael's also has a body shop and they did some nice work on my Honda. I took the Honda to Michael's mechanical repair shop for normal service, and everything was done well. Some time later I noticed a high pitched sound in my engine and took the Honda in. They changed all my major belts and said that the sound was not as noticeable, but it sounded the same to me. A few weeks later, when my battery died, it was discovered that I needed a new alternator and (guess what) that the old alternator was responsible for the high pitched sound.I discussed this with Michael's, but they claimed I needed the belts anyway. (My car is a '98 Honda Accord Coupe, and had approximately 55,000 miles on it at the time.)

I took a '94 Geo Metro with a history of alternator problems to them for an alternator repair and a full workup. I didn't feel that they really took the history of the car seriously, and I had to remember to ask them about each thing that I'd wondered about (instead of getting a full report). They also charged me 30 minutes of time to put a fuse in where I'd pulled it out when the alternator started acting up. I'd put a poorly fitting battery in place to be able to get the car to them (standard was drained because of alternator wasn't working) and told them that the original was in the back of the car. They neither charged the original one, nor put it in place. I've had to take the car back three times for the alternator problem, and will continue to do so while it's under warrantee with them. But for other issues with the car, I will find another shop.

Michael's has been our auto & body repair service for over 20 years. They have gone the extra mile for making sure the work is done correctly and we are satisfied. When crunched for time to pick up the cars, they have stayed late to accommodate us. They always discuss options, where applicable, and allow us to choose our preference in a repair operation. Honesty is a hallmark of their business. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this company as a auto repair service.
