I have taken my Toyota to TLC for the past ten years. Their shop is clean and the mechanics are respectful and honest. I've always hoped one of the big network watchdog programs would "investigate" them by placing a camera under the hood and unpluging a sparkplug. TLC would pass with flying colors.

This is the only auto repair shop I have ever been too where I am not at all worried that they are over-charging me or not doing a complete job. I feel extremely lucky to have found this shop. It is not "fancy" like a dealership but they do a goog job at a great price. It would be the only shop that I would recommend to anyone with a Lexus!

TLC is great. They are timely and honest, and I never feel like I am being overcharged. Once the guy told me that if he let the shop next door do part of the work, it would be cheaper than if he did it himself (he could only replace, they could weld/fix), so at my approval he took care of that for me. They even gave us a ride home once when we had to drop off the car. They're great about working around schedules for picking up/dropping off. The problems are always solved and I feel confident in my car and in the prices I pay. I've recommended them to friends and heard good things back, too.

Jim (the owner) has always been honest and kind to me, taking time out of his schedule to explain the problems with my car. I've taken my car to TLC for years, and prefer it much more over the dealerships.

I've been taking both of our cars to TLC for years. They are at least as competent as the dealer and cost less. The one time they made a mistake, which we all do, they quickly corrected it. Jim is a gem. He explains everything in detail and is completely honest. They never do unnecessary work, which is something most mechanics seem to do. The lack of weekend hours is understandable, but inconvenient. A loaner car or ride would be a big help too.

If you are a Toyota or Lexus car owner, look no further. You have arrived at repair heaven for your car. I found TLC (Toyota and Lexus Care) 10 years ago, when I bought my 1998 Lexus ES 300--by reviews on this Click and Clack site. I've had EVERYTHING needed done by them over these past 10 years and just appreciate them more and more. They are almost a relic of days gone by: honest, ethical, trustworthy, highly competent, friendly, very reasonable pricing (!). I can't describe the peace of mind I have experienced whenever my Lexus needs attention ever since I met them (Jim and Fred are the co-owners--ex Toyota/Lexus dealer mechanics, who decided to set up the kind of shop they wanted, one that expressed their values of wanting to help people, as Jim shared with me today). I TOTALLY trust these guys--they have earned it from day one and every time I've turned to them since. I was blown away by their kindness when a had a flat tire a few years ago about a mile or two from their shop. I called them & they came to me and fixed my tire FREE OF CHARGE!!! Things like this really make an impression on you. We've become friends over the years even though I only see them for my 5K oil & lubes and the rare in between needed repairs. Just got my 180K service today, which along with a new water pump and new spark plugs was only $1050. I've never written a review like this--but these guys totally deserve it and I hope any Toyota or Lexus owner in San Diego will do themselves favor and make their next repair appointment with TLC and see what I'm talking about--you can thank me when you write your rave review. Thanks, Tom and Ray, for offering this website where your appreciative listeners can turns to reviews from fellow fans. My gratitude to both you and Jim and Fred to TLC.

My husband and I have been taking our Toyotas to TLC for the past 10 years. They are extremely nice and honest. My husband drives a 1992 Camry and every time he takes the car to the dealer for an oil change, they come up with a list of repairs. When we check with TLC, they always tell us which repairs are necessary and which are not. I think we end up buying Toyotas instead of Hondas just because we have such a reliable Toyota mechanic.
