Jon Woods also hosts a weekly radio show on AM 600 (KOGO)in the San Diego,CA. area. He is on every sunday, from 10 AM to 11 AM. All of his technicians are fantastic and are all ASE Master Technicians. His shop has been at the same location for about 22-23 years.

Over the course of nearly 30 years I have found Jon and his staff are all top-notch mechanics, very honest, skilled and professional in all their dealings. I would recommend this shop to any owner of a Japanese automobile.

I originally heard of Woods Automotive on your CAR TALK
radio show. Since I was a recent widow who doesn't know
much about car repairs, I was concerned about finding a
mechanic I could trust not to take advantage of me. Mike
has always treated me with the utmost respect and explained
the need for whatever needs to be done. I travel clear
across town gladly for such great service.

I first started going to Jon when I moved to San Diego in
1984. I was shocked! He was honest, extremely competent and
fairly priced. I have heard tell customers that it was time
to give it up. "Don't put any more money into this sink
hole. It is time to move on." He specializes in foreign
makes and is especially good with Japanese models. No fancy
HDTV, no leather couches in the waiting room and no knuckle
heads try to upsell you into inappropriate or unecessary
service.

Mike Dunbar took over John Woods Automotive (now Woods
Automotive), and I feel the quality of the shop has
remained exceptionally high. Mike himself explains
problems and repair options and lets the customer make the
final, informed decision. He also keeps the customer
aprised periodically as the car is being repaired. If
anything, he errors on the side of being conservative as
far as recommending less expensive repair alternatives if
possible. He keeps good records of past and future work.
His mechanics have always done an excellent job on my car,
and as a female who is pretty much a mechanical ignoramus,
Mike and his people are never condescending. I drive quite
a long way to take my Acura (which has over 154,000 miles
on it!) to Woods Automotive.

Mike and his office staff Joy are always proffesional
accomodating and helful.
Mike runs a great shop when he does a car check he really
means it he prioritizes problems and explains what and why
repairs are suggested.
The work is very well done and reasonably priced. Mike has
saved me many dollars by suggesting alternatives such as
after market and rebuils which perform very well.
I have refferred three friends to him and after getting
quotes from both dealers and other independent shops Mike
has determined the suggested scope of the work was too
extensive (he spliced and repaired an electrical harness
vs replacing the entire wiring system saving one friend
$700, and identified specific hoses and clamps that needed
replacement saving another frind $400)
I highly reccommend this shop it would bring tears of joy
to Tom and Ray.

I drive a 2005 Prius. I requested them to repair a part
that many people had suggested to replace due to its high
failure rate. Mike Dunbar (the longtime employee who took
over when Jon retired) researched the issue and advised
against the repair. He actually took time to NOT take my
money. We have been customers for years (starting with my
father) and have never had a single bad experience.
