Heck, the owner, Ben Hagler tought me how to adjust the AIB
valve that had been causing stalling in the summer time.
The local Nissan dealer had been charging me $80 per visit
to pop off a little plastic piece and turn an adjuster
screw!
I literally won't go to any other mechanic.

I called around (using the DMV's list of certified shops)
to compare prices for a smog check. The owner of San Carlos
Service actually answered the phone (after only a couple of
rings) and was very pleasant but to the point. Their price
was comparable or toward the lower end. I happened to have
a free morning this week and took my car in without an
appointment. Although the shop appeared to be full with
several mechanics at work, the owner said they could do the
smog check right away. When I returned from a nearby
coffee shop, the smog check was done. Considering I might
come back for some minor repairs I'd been putting off, I
asked the owner if he'd take a look at a couple of things.
He did so on the spot, gave me an idea of the time it would
take and cost.
Overall, I was impressed by the pleasant efficiency with
which my needs were met. This was in contrast to several
recent experiences I'd had with other shops in the area. I
plan to go back. I'm hoping that at last I've found the
Car Guy Prince I've been searching for and I'm through
kissing frogs.
