I generally treat car repairs the same as I do medical work--i.e. I get always get a second opinion. I willingly pay for diagnosis. John charges more than the dealership for his work. Despite that, his "on target" diagnoses have saved me as much as $200-$500 each time on all the unnecessary work the dealership or other mechanics had diagnosed.

I just had to put my two cents' worth in after reading the
combination of comments from the other reviewer. It was
such a trip down memory lane! The price was breathtaking
for me at the time, but John was so accurate in his
diagnosis, and then so thorough in his explanations, that
was worth the price of admission alone. Then he had to go
and go the extra mile and save me a couple hundred dollars
with just a piece of strategically placed electrical tape
instead of the part the (Company Shall Remain Nameless To
Keep Protecting The Guilty) wanted to sell me...well, let's
just say he made a fan for life that day. Oh yeah, why'd I
ever quit going to the guy? Remember that "kinda sorta"
answer on the "timely" question up there??? Plus he was
inconveniently far away.
