Tony won't rip you off and will even make you wait to make repairs to something if it isn't urgent, however this sometimes requires more trips to see him, but he's a trustworthy mechanic, which is possibly worth more than good sex.

I've been taking my car to Tony since I moved to Sacramento in 1989 and I respect and like him. Whenever I call up he is willing to accommodate me, and he's willing to fix my car in the early morning before I even start work. He keeps track of everything he's done and lets me know when a new repair will be due (i.e., "in about another 3000 miles we'll need to do the rear brakes.") At the beginning I used to double-check with my brother (who is a mechanic in Tucson) to see if the price was reasonable for a given repair, but now I don't even bother anymore. He's not as enthusiastic about working on my new car (a Subaru), saying it's not as easy as the Toyota, but DID tell me it would be a good car!

He is the only mechanic I've ever sent a Christmas card to.

Dear Car Talk:
Tony's European and Asian Car Repair is a shop that
repairs American cars as well. They are impeccably
honest, they tell you the absolute truth about your car,
they try to accommodate you in any way they can, and most
importantly they know what they don't know. This is one
shop that will consult other shops or refer problems that
they cannot handle (by the way this is seldom the case
since they know how to handle just about anything that
comes in the shop). If anything they charge too little for
the repairs they do. I have known these people since 1974
and they have become close friends of mine. What I write
here is not as a friend but as a customer who knows about
cars and knows what they do in the shop. I do not know of
any other shop in Sacramento or elsewhere that has as many
good attributes as the shop. Knowing Tony and his family
has been an absolute joy in my life. Eugene V. Abravanel

I took my 81 Toyota to Tony for years .... it lasted 16 years.
During my Toyota years, his garage was within reasonable walking distance
from my job. Then he moved several blocks further away and he would give
me a ride to work if I dropped off my car early in the a.m. Now he's in a spot
that is totally inconvenient for me and I wish that were not so!
