Gary is an ex-rally driver/mechanic and has an impressive active and passive knowledge base about all cars. He will tell you which ones he should not work on, and refer you to a more appropriate place, even if he does the machine shop work for the dealership involved. My clicks on "specialize" are a rough catalogue of cars on which I have seen successful repairs over 15 years. Ridgecrest is the last real town before Death Valley and the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, so this place would be good to know about if in the area. He'll send you to the other competent foreign car mechanic if Dennis is less busy. Parts are a day away in many cases, but a fix the first time is quicker than any other solution. Gary will talk to anyone who will listen about their problems, but does not suffer loud fools well. I had some ambivalence about noting specialization in some cars: how can anyone specialize in cars no longer sold here?

Gary at Prognathas has always treated us right, he has worked on our Volvo three or four times. The price is always reasonable, and he didn't charge us a dime when he couldn't fix a problem that required special dealer only tools to repair. It turned out the failure code indicate a problem for which there was a recall. On all other occasions he fixed the problem right the first time. As you would expect of a good mechanic he is busy and his hours aren't always convenient so if your in a big rush you might consider going somewhere else. Other than that we think he's great.
